I stand by my point. All any of us REALLY care about is basketball. Football is a distraction for your fans who would rather win the NCAA tourney in Hoops and to beat us than to have an untested football team that is a legend only in its own fans minds. It distracts from the fact that your basketball program has done nothing since the mid 80's.

That's a bit ridiculous. I admit I'm a basketball fan first, but football is a very close second. Maybe if you guys had a team worth cheering for, football would mean more to you.

Noknee, my man, I could care LESS what your opinion of UK sports is, but if you really think anyone else in the country apart from your regional (and that's all it is at best,REGIONAL)fan base gives a hoot about U of L football, there is someone who's delusional and it's not UK fans. And spare us any recitals of which poll or pollspredicted where the Cardinals MIGHT be ranked in football this season. In case you hadn't noticed, those polls are put out every year and they rank more schools than just Louisville, so it's not like you have a monopoly on it. And the last polls that came out, you guys flamed out so quick the ink hadn't dried on the publications (what few there were) that said you guys were going to be a team to be reckoned with...before South Florida and West Virginia came along, that is.:D

What "wild predictions" are you speaking of??? Um we lost Brohm and our second best D-lineman for the Gator Bowl. With Brohm we win by 2 TD's plain and simple. Cantwell did a GREAT job and we are proud of him. But he missed SEVERAL wide open receivers. I can't predict injuries to players. Winning the Gator would have finished us right where preseason polls had put us, 12th or so. So we finished 19th instead. Wow, big difference. uk fans would soil themselves to finish there. And as far as having fans outside the state, that wasn't even my point. My point was that if I had to choose between basketball and football, it's football all the way. But we'll just take both instead. I can handle that. It gets pretty expensive but it's well worth it. Were we disappointed about going to the NIT, of course. But it was one down year after losing our best players from the Final Four the year before. I would be more upset had we not been to a Final Four in nearly a decade or something. That's all I know. It seems that a lot of cat fans feel the same according to other boards. You guys are fooling nobody....NOBODY. Pitino has PROVEN he can make it back to the promised land. All I will say about that is the FACT you mentioned is nothing more than your opinion, period. Same thing with the 'Cats getting back to the Final Four. I don't expect you to do cartwheels when UK wins, but this blanket assertion that UK won't be back to the Final Four is ludicrous and you know it.

The "wild predictions" I'm speaking of refer to the fact that you were the one and only Cardinal fan on this board that predicted the Cardinals would be playing USC in the Rose Bowl, and all I'm saying is I wouldn't be so quick to jump to the conclusion that U of L is gonna roll over UK in football, that's all. The Cardinals will be and should be favored, but as we've seen in the past, that doesn't equate to what will happen on the field.

I was one of the first to acknowledge that U of L had a great year and Cantwell did a heck of a job filling in for Brohm. We all saw that and no one has denied it. I can understand you being proud of your team and all that, heck I expect it, and IF the Cardinals ever do manage to make it to the national championship game in footbal, I'll be the first in line to congratulate them. The problem I'm having is you guys seem to be more concerned with winning the national championship with the media than you are on the football field.

"Football is FAR MORE popular nationwide than basketball." NFL football not college. PLUS, I don't live "nationwide" I live locally in a NCAA hoops crazy state. I have friends in Mich that eat drink and sleep NHL and NCAA Hockey. Your feelings about your football programs relevance reminds me of my Mich friends view of their hockey. I was in a sports bar in Florida last week watching the NCAA finals. There were guys from all over the place. Several at the bar struck up conversations about NCAA football. I brought up LilBro to see what these guys from Fla, GA, Al, NJ thought about you. They didn't. A guy from AL said that "Louisville and Marshall have done pretty well the past few years." There were a couple of nods from the rest of the guys.

I almost bust a gut. They compare you with Marshall and you guys think youare USC. These guys would have looked at you like you had two heads if you would spout some of the stuff you say on here about your FB program. You guys are legends only in your own mind.

Kind of like if you tried to spell best, but hit the r instead and spelled besr...the t and r are close together, therefore that is understandable as a typo. You spelled intelligent as "intellegent." He was dead up correct. You didn't make a typo. It was like Dan Quayle spelling "potatoe." You just spelled it incorrectly. No biggy. Poor spelling is sometimes a trait of very smart people....although it is a trait of stupid ones too. Ihave my opinion as to which category you fit in to.

Do we really need to discuss the stereotype associated with UL fans? So now you have to have attended the university to be a fan of the team? I've got a newsflash for you: 90% of Duke fans never stepped foot on their campus. Those people have some nerve cheering for the Dukies. About 90% of Louisville fans never stepped foot on ANY campus, let alone UL's. How's that grab ya?

However, at this point prior to the season starting, you could pick half the teams in the country and they ALL could make the same claim. All I'm saying is you guys don't have a monopoly on it. And you can read every post I've made on this forumand you will never find ONE where I've EVER said that U of L wasn't loaded with talent and the coaches didn't know what they were doing..some others might have, but I haven't. I might talk a little smack here and there but I don't get stupid about it. The rest of what you said I will let pass because you're just getting overly defensive about it and it's pointless to give a UK sports history recital to refute what your point is. I would lay any amount of money this isn't even CLOSE to being true. Unless you are counting middle and high schools students. Your the ones saying how little our fan base is. Use some common sense here. I would say that a majority of our fans are originally from or attended Louisville. We don't have many fans outside the city in the land of the illiterate like uk does.
