Will Barton is a player that Wildcats fans might want to familiarize themselves with.

Barton is a 6'6" Junior Shooting Guard (Class of 2010) who has big time potential written all over him. He has good size and outstanding length for the two-guard position and possesses a well rounded skill set as well. He can put the ball on the floor, pass it, make shots and has sound mechanics. He plays the game very efficiently and manages to get the majority of his points within the flow of the offense, but is also capable of creating his own shot at virtually anytime thanks to a mid-range pull-up with a very high release. Overall, he is a prospect who has all the tools and only needs more time to develop.

The word on the ‘net is that Kentucky Ink is reporting that Coach Calipari is getting set to accept the verbal commitment of 2010 shooting guard Will Barton, a five-star shooting guard ranked as Rivals’ #24 player in the class of 2010. Also, Scout.com has the 6-5″, 165-pound player from Baltimore ranked as the #10 player in his class and top shooting guard. According to Rivals, Barton was also mulling offers (if this is a done deal) from Arizona, Georgetown, Maryland, Memphis, Pitt, Providence, Virginia and Xavier.

None of the major news outlets (not to discredit KyInk) have confirmed the story yet, but as soon as we have a story, we’ll post it.

UK is 'very, very high' on his list

Schools interested in him include Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, Virginia, Arizona and Oklahoma.

"Kentucky is very high," he said. "I'm just going to tell you they are very, very high. I like a lot of things about their program."

Barton said he was recruited by UK coach John Calipari when the coach was at Memphis and noted he loves "the kind of style he plays."

Several reports have Barton close to committing to the Wildcats,but he said he's just "taking everything in and learning about schools."

"Coach Calipari is a great coach and a great person," Barton said. "He said I fit the dribble-drive offense perfectly. I agree with him because I can do a lot of the dribble-drive stuff. I know it's a great school, and they're high on my list."

Looks to me like he plays big than his size according to the posted videos. He makes shots but his right arm is in an odd position when shooting in each of the long shots I saw. I think he has potential for unbelievable range with an adjustment on his shooting technique - maybe too late to teach those fundamentals - however, if he is making em, maybe he ought not change a thing...I believe he has huge potential and is an awesome recruit considering the timing of our team right now.
