Heads up about firewalls and making posts

First, I want to thank Wildcat Dan, ukbob, TRexSmarts, and others who helped me figure out my problem with making posts. Basically, I could acess the WCN site but couldn't post.

To make a long story short, I had installed some new anti-virus software and it had a firewall included in it. Once I disabled the firewall, the problem was corrected. I just wanted to let the mods and everyone else know about this in case someone else has to deal with it. I hope it will save them a lot of headaches. Lord knows, I had enough of 'em until I figured this out.

Which firewall/ antivirus software?

I use avast and the windows firewall for free. I don't do porn so I don't see much reason to pay any money. Another good free firewall is zonealarm.

I have Bellsouth DSL and they just came out with a new security software (anti-virus. spyware, etc.) that included a firewall. When I first installed it, I was in a stretch where I didn't post for a couple of days, hence I didn't notice the problem. The software works great and has already nailed several e-mails that has attachments with viruses. It works really smooth. Once I disabled the firewall, all is well.
