Anyone have an opinion on UK's position with either of these guys?

I have no information on our recruits but from that list, Nick Calathes, UF commit is amazing. I saw him play when he was a sophomore in the Florida state championship. He is unreal, he will give us fits.

I've heard we're in better position with Patterson than Johnson. We offered Patterson before he became really well known, and that might suit well with him. Tubby's been after him for some time I believe. We also don't have to deal with Johnson's natural Big 12 bias.

Article today on the Catspause on Patterson. He's still high on UK and I've been reading the forums over there that indicate we are in better position with Johnson that previously indicated. Some even speculate we may be in the #1 position with Johnson's list of schools. It's a long way before we'll know Johnson's decision (October most likely). Patterson on the other hand wants to commit before his senior season so it looks like October as well.

Take this for what it's worth, but I work in Huntington. Last week on my lunch break I was eating at Stewarts Hot Dogs and the Little girl who waited on us noticed my UK KAT plates and asked if it stood for Kentucky, I told her yes. She said her best friends boyfriend was being recruited by UK, well I knew it was Patrick Patterson she was talking about. I asked her how interested he was in coming to UK, and she told me it was a dream come true for him. Hope she's right, because the kid can play some ball for sure.

Patterson's recruitment is being handled by Tubby and Hobbs. That tells meRigot and Hanson are not in the loop anymore with recruitingand won't be here very much longer. Contracts expire in June and they'll be moving on. Hopefully, they'll line up other jobs before then so Tubby won't have to fire them. We'll just have to wait ans see.

Not saying you are wrong but I didn't know Hobbs' contract ended in June. However, I do know Rigot's does. As far as recruiting, I don't think Hobbs does that role anyway.

Mayo, Walker and now Patterson. In just this one class, little Huntington, WV has produced more elite basketball talent than the entire neighboring state of Kentucky has produced in the last 10 years.

gary johnson a 6-foot-7 power forward from Aldine, TX, ranked #2
Kentucky fans will think, “a little bit Kenny Walker, a little bit Chuck Hayes” when they see Johnson play.
Right now I am still interested in the same schools. UConn and Kentucky texas and duke
Patterson, from Huntington WV, loves coach David Hobbs and Kentucky, “Kentucky is one of the schools I am interested in,” Patterson said, “but it is early. I am also interested in fla, west virginia, virgina ,virginia tech and wake forest”
“Kentucky is a school that I am very flattered is showing interest in me. Coach David Hobbs has been really helpful. I’d like to visit Lexington. I have not arranged anything yet but I hope to. I am not sure who all I will visit. Florida, maybe. Wake maybe. The other schools are closer to me and are easier to get to but I am going to take my time.”

Over the last few months Hobbs has been taking a more active role in recruiting. He doesn't do the visits (Tubby is doing that), but he maintains the connections (phone calls, etc.). Not sure about his contract, but the lower level assistants (like Rigot) have their contracts on a yearly basis renewable at the end of June (fiscal year). The fact that Hobbs is doing this (not his normal job) tells me Tubby doesn't want recruits having even secondarycontact with someone who's not going to be there. Rigot and Hanson both have not been very good at keeping in touch with recruits. If only one change is to be made, it'll be Rigot. He's done nothing and the players don't like him. We lost out on Tyler Smith the first time around because of Rigot.Tubby might give Hanson another year under a new head recruiter (Buzz?) to see ifhe works out, but maybe not. Only Tubby knows for sure what the plans are and what's really going on. But, the fact that Hanson's name was mentioned as a candidate for the Murray StateCoaching job tells me he's ready to move on (gracefully or not). The nextfew weeks will be very interesting. We'll have a newS/C Coach at the end of the NBA (I'd bet a buck to a butt that it's going to be the "Rock"- he's been hanging around too much, but it might be someone in the NBA he has suggested). But, the announcement of Assistant Coaching changes won't wait until the end of June. We'll know about that before the Spring signing period is over. It's all connected with timing. I'm going to really go out on a limb here, but this is the way I'm seeing it right now - Rigot goes, Rock(or Rock like)comes, Buzz comes (bringing T. Smith with him) and Hanson hangs for 1 more year (if not, Cameron Hill will be upgraded - the most probable scenario - I see Hanson gone, too.). I'll probably be eating my shorts on this one LOL!!!
IfI'm right, beers are on you (Guiness Stout)! IfI'm wrong, beersare on my wife (Shlitz - she has no idea of what I post - should pay more attention)!
