It costs extra for Pearl's tanning salon and to keep it secure from the UT football team.

There once was a timewhen Kentucky could probably get a single donation in the $5 million range. I doubt they can do that anymore. I understand all of the horse money went to Ricky P.
Tennessee always tries to do one better than the competition. Now that they smell blood on the basketball court the money will come pouring in. They have it to burn up there and the entire SEC knows it. I doubt Pearl can bring them to the levelPat Summit brought the women's team but he will have the money backers to make a go at it. But he has a Rocky Top road to travel to get to the top of the mountain.
I hope Kentucky gets their's up and running soon.

Up and running? As in the one that will open this fall? Why do you always have to take a shot, veiled as it might be, in every single one of your posts? The question pertained to UT's practice facility and UK's practice facility, not whether or not anyone thought we had to climb a mountain to or get up and running. We get it, you are not happy with Tubby, Tubbyball, Tubby Staff, Teletubbies...all thibgs Tubby. The freaking horse is dead...stop beating it. We got it the first 500 posts.

Thank you for your comments. Meanwhile Nero fiddles as Rome burns. Get a grip, sir, the program is in trouble.
The reason Tennessee and Mr. Pearlare riding high is because heout works our coach. He is also abetter promoter of his program. The only promoting Tubby did for his program last year was take the team to see Glory Road.
Pearl might be a snake oil salesman but at least he can sell something. I wouldn't play for him but unfortunately for us, a lot of good players may feel different.

Noone is disagreeing with you about the program and the issues that it has. I would not shed too many tears were Tubby to move on. I would wish him the best, as long as it's not as the Bobcats coach. He can right the ship IF, and that's a BIG IF, he makes the necessary staff changes. I have a hard time buying into the "Pearl outworks Tubby" theory. He out sells him, which is a major part of it. I have competitors that work just as hard as me, but I kick the crap out of them consistently. There are other variables involved. Again, noone shoud be happy with the state of the program. It just gets tiresome and old reading the same posts over and over again. The only thing that changes is the thread it's posted under.
Back to the thread: UT is spending 15 million on a practice facility. We're "only" spending 10 million. They are starting from scratch, we added on and renovated Memorial. How would have the fanbase reacted if we tore down Memorial and replaced it with a shiny new building? The idea was kicked around.

When they build Thompson Bowling Arena, it was under the knowledge that it would seat 1,000 more than Rupp. Many people poured in millions to see that it was done.
Tenn has always wanted to keep up with the Cats and larger.

As much as I would like to believe that, that is not true at all. Between 12 and 14 million...tops.

This is slightly off topic but since someone mentioned it I am going to respond to it. Every year, good, bad, not so good,or not asgood as the fans wanted, the UK coaches have to make adjustments and corrections. It doens't matter if UK wins the championship or whatever the outcome of the season is. This year is no different.I said that to say this: The University of Kentucky sports programs are NOT in trouble. Period. Sayingtheir in trouble implies a lot of things that simplyaren't going on.
I'm not posting this to start an argument nor am I interested in debating anyone. I read everyone's elses opinions and this is mine.

I hope Tennessee is reading this forum because they will spend another $6M just to say they paid more than Kentucky for a practice gym.
Honestly, it doesn't matter how much you pay for something it is the finished product. We will not catch up with Florida or Tennessee next year because we have a prettier practice facility. We have to do it with HARD WORK and that starts at the top with our head coach. If he gets outworked by Pearl then we finish behind them. Simple as that.

Thanks for the clarification. Silly me. I actually thought the program was in good hands after going 109-28 over the last four years. Another troubling stat had me fooled too. Did you know UK has missed the Sweet 16 for the 3rd time now in the last 12 years? Appalling, just appalling!

Sweet 16????????? So that is your measure of greatness.

I think his point was that winning 75% of our games and being in the Sweet 16 nearly every year may not be "greatness" but it's a far cry from being "in trouble" also.

Anybody got $4 million laying around? If so, you can get the new UK facility named after you. I was so close. :ggrin:
