Let's hope this information is true.

Jasper would be a HUGE pick-up for the Cats.

Jasper, Wright, Thompson/Meeks...and then Young.

Let's go.

No way we get Young and Wright. I'm with CC on this one: Do we really want Jasper/Meeks/Porter in the same class? That severly limits what we can do next year with the SGs and OJ. We are in with several of the top pure shooters in next year's class. If we sign three guards, then that will affect their decisions, all of whom are ranked higher as 2Gs than Meeks/Jasper.

I don't think both will come, but i could see wright and young, they don't play the same position, young wants to play the three and wright will proably play the four in college. if both did come, it would be the best recruiting class of all time for UK to get two top five kids,

It's not an issue of the positions being the same, because they aren't. It's more of an issue of Young i.e. his entourage "advisors" wanting to share spotlight in what's likely to be a one and done audition. If that's the case, do we really want both? Conventional wisdom says of course, but TS has been burned before.

True, but isn't that the exact situation we are expecting for Mayo. I mean you want to talk about entourages, King Thug has quite an impressive one.... If we are worried about entourages and so forth, let meeks come with jasper and not worry about mayo.

By all accounts OJ is nota thug, he just has an entourage. Seems to be the same with Young. The thing with OJ is that he is that much better than everyone else so you gamble. Young is a great one, but replaceable the following year with say: Bill Walker. That's where the OJ thing makes sense, the package deal.

I understand what your saying and agree, but if entourages and unsaviory characters are cause not to recurit a kid, then it should apply to who would most defnitely be the number pick in the NBA draft. I just don't think you pass up a kid like young, if he truly wanted to come.. just my two cents worth, no worries either eay.

I just believe recruiting is such a gamble, the list of sure things coming here that never did are long. I think you get what you can this year and see the hand your dealt next season. Every coach deals with these sort of things differently... i will be happy with whatever combination we get, but everything shouldn't be predicated on whether or not mayo will be coming or not.

My bet is thatif you're a star athlete, then you've got an entourage.

I still think we've got a chance with Young. Two different players. Rondo, Crawford, and Morris were all Mc-AA's, and they came. Entourages be damned.

NotFrank

I hear ya. I just think that Wright would be sufficient, especially if we can get Thompson. I think all these guards are great and all and Wright will be special, but who rebounds? We needa banger.

And look what happened to the two guys with entourages/meddling "advisors": one left school only to tuck his tail between his legs and come back and the other one did the same. They both have been bigger headaches than they are worth at this point.

Bad example of entourages be damned.

100% correct and agree. But, if Tubby has a wink wink nod nod from OJ, then I say leave a spot open at the guard spot.

I very much doubt he has a 'wink nod' from OJ. If OJ wants to come, he'd commit verbally already IMO. Otherwise, I don't take a chance on something like that.

I don't think he does either. Hypothetic at best. However, if you think OJ would commit this early you are nuts. He doesn't want to miss being fallen all over during the recruiting process. I know I wouldn't want to miss it.

I don't think he would commit this early at all. Just saying, no way I would hold a spot for someone if they are still listening to other schools and visiting. You verbal and you stop the visits to other schools to show you're serious. I've heard of coaches holding a spot and finding out that their recruit went back behind their back. Of course, most drop the player from their recruitment and retract the scholarship offer. It can become a mess.

i thought jasper wanted to wait to make his decision after he visisted memphis. i take it he is skipping it which would be good for us, maybe kemp made his decision for him.

He was scheduled for Oct. 15th but I think Kemp's decision to go to Memphis sealed it for him even though we were the favorite almost the whole time.

Its Pacific time so it'll be 6pm for those on the eastern time zone. By the way, CC, aka Greg Hoover, has confirmed from his source in Cali that Jasper is coming to UK. Getting exciting.

One semi-big fish. Wright is next. Meeks/Thompson would be nice.

the last i was checking recruiting rountinely was around when we signed porter, is jasper considerablybetter than porter's teammate that chose washington over us?

Coldstream

By rivals.com, yes. Adrian Oliver is a 3 star while Jasper is 4 star. Ranked 102 overall in top 150 players for '06. Jasper is #35 (Meeks is #34 if you're paying attention to his recruitment).
