The lights dropped for player introductions at Freedom Hall last night before the adidas Derby Festival Basketball Classic, and the gloves came off, too.
A testy crowd of 14,072 peppered with University of Louisville and University of Kentucky fans took turns booing players headed to opposing schools. The Cards and Cats fans took turns booing each other, too.
The biggest boos were reserved for referee Robert Hatfield, who called a foul with 1.1 seconds left in regulation that allowed the White team to tie the score. And the White team, also known as UK and friends, defeated the Black team, or U of L and friends, 118-106 in overtime.
The Black team featured U of L recruits Derrick Caracter and Edgar Sosa; the White included UK signees Jodie Meeks, Derrick Jasper and Perry Stevenson.
