Hey all,

I'm updating my little page of rosters from the Derby Classic going back to 1994. As I look through the list, a couple of these Wildcats must have skipped town before playing for the Cats. Anybody know about the following:

http://www.trevant.com/basketball/derby_classic.htm

1996: Lamont Barnes

1996: Anthony Dent

1999: Derek Smith

2000: Michael Southall

Maybe they were Football players like DeWalt from 2004? Any ideas?

Michael Southall was charged of drug possession before he ever got to UK. His scholarship offer was revoked and he ended up at Lousiana Lafyette, where he had a solid career.

Derek Smith played football for UK and played at least one year of basketball for Northern Kentucky University.

Anthony Dent, I believe, was the brother of Rodney but he never made it to UK.

Not sure about Lamont Barnes.

Barnes ended up at Temple.

Yep, Barnes had a pretty good career at Temple back when Temple was a bit of a force in college basketball.

Wow, three replies in no time. You guys know your stuff. 8^)

Now that you mention it, I do remember the Southall and Smith situations. Thanks for the info!

You're not wrong. Barnes played with both Greg Buckner (when L.B. was a fresh. or soph.) and the other Buckner that went to Duke. Along with those, and I. Victor, there was another good player on that team, Harold Swanagan. He may have ended up at Notre Dame? Pretty good UHA team back then.
