very true. she's nice...anyway, about meeks. i like this kid. he's 6'4", which is pretty good size for a SG. he's rated very high, even higher than jasper. so he must be really good. anyway, i'm hoping that tubby is planning on getting 2 big guys along with Porter, Jasper, and Meeks. cuz if we're only getting Wright, then it'd be pretty stupid, since we're in real need of some low-post guys, and since wright will likely be a 2-year player at best. but if he gets wright along w/ either stevenson, thompson, or young, then i'd be fine w/ it. a class of wright, stevenson/thompson/young, meeks, jasper, and porter would be awesome. prob the best class we've had in the tubby era.
as for the 5 schollies, sparks/stockton = 2. moss is a walk-on, so he doesnt count. rondo/morris = 2. so thats 4 total. then, carter could let go of his scholly and pay a reduced tuition, or porter could prep, or alleyne/woo could leave. thats 5. perfect. plus, all of those recruits are top-35(besides porter). not bad at all.

Please again, let me remind you... RATINGS ARE VERY SUBJECTIVE>
If that were true why wouldnt have Tubby taken Kemp.. he is higher than BOTH.
IT ISNT ALWAYS RANKINGS AND HORROR>>> THEY SOMETIMES ARE WRONG>
Emeka Okafor was ranked 99th... so go figure.

Woo/Shag one is most likely gone. Woo for the money, Shag because of that pesky class/education thing. He hates school. Shame because he's a smart kid.

Looking at it.........Tubby is laying the groundwork for replacement of Sparks and Rajon. Like any good coach Tubby is keeping the talent flowing.

And Bradley/Crawford. We still need a big BAD. Wright is tall, but not big.

Theoretically, I agree.
But I don't think it's anything like desperate.
Because I don't think Jared Carter should be forgotten in this discussion.
Sure, Carter's a project, but he's also seven feet-two inches tall. He will start at center for us someday, and if B. Wright stays two years, then that's a formidablefrontcourt to alongwith senior Ramel Bradley, senior JoeCrawford, Jodie Meeks in the three guard line-up, and Jasper coming in off the pine. That's a solid six, and that's not counting next year's loaded class.
Tubby issetting us up.

Do not discount the fact that we lose Sims/Perry/Thomas/Woo/Shag in 07. Do we really want to count on that many freshmen to lead us to the promised land? We could lose Woo/Shag after this year which makes getting a bigger priority.

I tend to agree. Wright is the tall but not the big. However, he is the one we need desparately for many reasons. If we get Meeks with Jasper and Wright, then Tubby can go until Spring looking for the other big player if need be, IMO. Thompson, IMO, may be a long shot with UCLA all over him.
Stevenson has the height and defense but needs to bulk up. However, adding him to the mix would not hurt my feelings and still would be a great class altogether. Don't forget 07. Lot's of big guys in that one as well and we are all over a few of them.

Carter will be a junior in '08. Wright, if he comes and stays, will be a sophomore. Tubby will land someone in next year's class (Gani Lawal?) to complement those two. I don't expect a whiff on Stevenson/Thompson, but if that happens I still don't think we're in a make-or-break situation underneath.
Tubby has fuond that recruiting guards is the key to winning in college basketball. Guard overload is not a bad thing. Since 2001, we have recruited 13 wing players and only6interior players. The fact that wehave lost only 15 games in the last three years correlates interestingly with those numbers.

Guards do win games come tourney time, but what was our Achilles' heel last year?
Rebounding.

Guards are definitely key to the success and if we sign Meeks, we will have a greta stable of guards for some time, IMO. Meeks, Jasper, Bradley, Porter and whoever we pick up in 07 will be capable of dominating games at times. Lots of talent equipped with speed and height.

True.
But Tubby recruited a kid who didn't seem like he would have a motivation problem (Morris) and ended up sleepwalking through part of the year, andwe had another frontcout player lose half his body weightafter havinga tumor extracted.

Very important point. It's a tempting and easy pitfall, we all look at ratings, but it's better to wait until they move up to the next level and start playing against the higher caliber of competition.
Just gotta trust Tubby and his staff.
