I heard Bob Neal say last night, that if the Heat win the Title (please no!), that Walker & Anderson will be the first teammates to win an NCAA & NBA Title as teammates.

I guess that wouldn't be too bad considering that they are coached by a former UK player, and that would be a new record for us.:thumbup

I'm still rooting for Mr. Prince and the Pistons.

Bob Neal doesn't know squat. What about Bill Russell and K. C. Jones? And John Havlichek and Larry Siegfried? And Gail Goodrich and Keith Erickson?

I love it. Keep those cats together for multiple championships.

Billy Thompson and Milt Wagner won the national championship at Camden High School, then at UofL and then with the Lakers. So he should check his facts.

He was forgetting the Eastern Conference favorite Pistons. With Delk and Prince also. I think that would be more likely than Miami. Though im pulling for those two teams.

A couple of things:

1) I don't think there's any reason to accuse Mr. Neal of not knowing squat. He was trying to make an observation, that I'm happy to hear him make. Many announcers in the leage have a tendency not to make these observations. I find it good for the program. Recently, during a Pistons-Heat game, the announcers never mentioned that Walker-Delk-Anderson all won a title together - and they were on the court at the same time.
Regarding Walker-Anderson: He did say, "he thought that this was the case."
And, he also asked someone to check on this for him.
But, I wasn't able to watch every second, in case someone corrected him.

2) Also, Prince didn't win a national title at UK, nor did he play with Delk.

I'm glad that this was able to generate some discussion, and some good memories, no doubt, for some of you. :D

Wagner only played in 5 of the 24 playoff games and averaged 1.2 pts., Thompson didn't even play in the playoffs, and only 9 games all year. I believe he was cut before the playoffs.

So it wasn't like they were major contributers for that great Laker team with Magic, Worthy, Cooper, Kareem and Scott.

One strange thing about Thompson, if I understand correctly, is that he was the #19 pick of the draft in '86, by the Hawks; but somehow, he wound up in LA that season.

I believe it was '88 that they were both (Thompson & Wagner) on the team together. But, if your info is correct, Thompson didn't really win a title in '88.

I don't think Wagner was with the team in '87.

(The Lakers won in '87 & '88).

Same thing I was thinking. Never heard of anything more than a state champinship.
