The first pitch Baseball America magazine threw about the Southeastern Conference was that nine SEC teams would make the NCAA Tournament. The University of Kentucky was not in the group.
Nobody howled. The magazine picked the Wildcats to finish sixth in the SEC East, the same grim spot they finished in 2005.
And 2004. And 2003. And … you get the picture. It's been six years since everybody in the SEC East failed to step on UK, 13 years since the Cats made the NCAA Tournament.
UK coach John Cohen doesn't want his players talking about this, but I don't play shortstop for the Cats, so I can do all the yapping his players aren't supposed to do.
