I don't follow baseball that much but that's pretty impressive! Swept S. Carolina who was at one time ranked #1 to move up the polls.

This is great news....I still believe the Batcats should be higher though....if they do well at the SEC tournament..the sky is the limit!
6 SEC teams in the top 25.:D

Vandy's #21 - just like we were last week.
Let's hope we can go to Nashville and take 2/3, solidfying ourselves as a top 15 team.
I cannot wait to see the CATS when they come to Athens next month.

Don't be so pessimistic with Vandy!

Excellent news. It has taken a while for them to get noticed as a top 15 team (been stuck above 20 for some time). Let's hope they are just hitting their stride.

Three wins over the #7 team will get you noticed.

We're now in position to host a four team regional. Sixteen of them out there.

Well, maybe not yet. We're 18 & 19 in the other two polls.

I often wondered how the College Baseball World Series setup. How are teams determined? At first I thought it would be the league champsions (SEC Champion, etc.) but I've seen more than 1 SEC team in the playoffs before so that can't be true. Anybody care to explain?

Well, a bunch of conferences - 30 or more - get automatic bids of the 64 spots. The balance are invites like the NCAA hoops tourney.
1) 16 of the 64 schools host 4-team regionals on a 2 losses & out basis. Generally, the top 16 host, but there are exceptions as best I can tell looking at the sites over the last several years. Why the exceptions,I don't know. I'm sure it couldn't involve money though.
2) The following week, the eight highest seeds teams host the other eight in a best 2 of 3, called super-regionals, with winners qualifying for Omaha.
3) Those eight are divided into two pods of four at Omaha, again by seeding,in two losses and out tourneys again.
4)The winners of those two tourneys play a last 2/3 for the national title.
Net, you need to avoid two losses in any of the four group stages you play to be champion.
