Super kid with lots of talent. Can get his going to the rim and uses size to his advantage. Lock high-major prospect who could be more efficient behind the line but equally good with his floater in the paint.

The Latest: Dennis to look elsewhere (http://kentucky.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=933587) — 4/8/2009
Many recruits, including four-star prospect Nolan Dennis are in a state of uncertainty concerning where they will go to college next year. One thing, however, is certain for Dennis. There is one school he will not be...

Same here!!!  ;)
I've been practically saying as much the past several days. I'm more high on Nolan Dennis, and what he means and could be and do for UK, than I have been Xavier Henry.
Wall is the top priority right now....with Dennis #2 on my wish list.
I'm just hoping we are able to free up the scholarships necessary to make this happen..... :5x

Do you guys think Wall signing with UK could turn off Dennis into coming here?

Seems with the overload at PF, that unless Stewart and Harrelson(I do like him, but seems to be outta favor with Pilgrim, showing promise), just really WOW, JC in practise, that both would be better suited, by transfering. If Galloway and Liggins, become academically enelligable(sp), do their respective schollies, become available?..........If so, Galloway is as good as gone(he only has one year left), so that opens up a spot for Nolan or Hall. IMO, both will be Cats by end of spring.
X should honor his LOI, to Memphis, or while I'd welcome his presence here in the BBN, I can't see why he didn't sign with Kansas, from the get go, being a 'legacy' and all.:shrug1:

I don't think it would affect him one way or the other...since Wall is a PG, and Dennis is a SG. Wall is likely a "one and done" player anyway, while Dennis is probably a 3 or 4 year type player...and with Meeks probably coming back, Dennis could back him up his freshman year, and then take over the reigns to be the starting SG his sophomore year.
I think all that's keeping Dennis from signing right now is the availability of scholarships. Once that is settled and room is made (hopefully for Wall AND Dennis) it shouldn't be any problem..... :5x

I have no idea why, but for the past week or so, I've been thinking Dennis was a PG. Must have got him mixed up with Bledsoe. :shrug1:

This guy should be in the top ten players. He is that good. He is long and athletic and is a good ball handler for a SG. He would be a perfect "fit" for Kentucky and the DDM. His perimeter shot could also open up the inside.

It was irregardless of Henry. Hood is a very similar player and supposedly better.

That would mean that someone refused to transfer. Because this team has a ridiculously stupid amount of frontcourt depth, but little to no backcourt depth. An injury to Meeks....and Hood will be counted on not only to start, but see ALL the minutes at SG....since there is no depth at either guard position.......

No one has refused to transfer because no one has been asked to leave. At this time, no one on the team has been asked to leave. Furthermore, Nolan decided to look elsewhere over a week ago when Calipari was still doing player evaluations.

I'd read somewhere that Dennis was "looking elsewhere". I'm sure he felt a little "dissed' when Coach Cal didn't offer him the same opportunity at Kentucky that he did at Memphis....or maybe he didn't think there would be the same opportunity at Kentucky that there was in Memphis. But that certainly wasn't Cal's fault. The scholarships simply weren't there.
But that still doesn't change the fact that we're ridiculously crowded in the frontcourt and extremely thin in the backcourt. There needs to be balance, which there isn't right now.....

From a talent standpoint, we may be thin but I think it is the scholarship issue plus who gets let go? Right now a lot of the speculation is on Harrellson and Stewart. I've seen Harris and Stevenson's name thrown around but I don't expect Calipari to touch any senior-to-be players left on this team. I think they are off-limits. With that said, Harrelson is a PF/C while Harris is SF. Porter has already volunteered to leave (PG) plus many believe Donald Williams will not be back on scholarship (walk-on status) who is also a SG.

I'd assume that's why Calipari's recruiting CJ Henry, Xavier Henry, John Wall and Eric Bledsoe.

Exactly.
Which is why I'm hoping we land two of these guys! (three if Henry brings CJ with him) But my concern is if the Henry brothers go to Kansas, Wall goes to Duke, Bledsoe goes to Florida, etc., it's not gonna be pretty...... :icon_neutral:

If Bledsoe was so hurt that UK was recruiting Wall first, wonder how he feels about Eddie Munster going after Wall now?

Remember--an athletic scholarship has to be renewed every year.
Some of these guys do not deserve a renewal.

I agree, but that is a very fine line to walk....could make UK look really bad if it seems they are forcing players out.

Things happen when there is a changing of the guard.
No coach should have to carry the baggage of previous coaches decisions.
It is a cruel world out there.

If we can take Calipari at his word, then players will not be forced out.
He told the media this past weekend that he's going to go to players and tell them they won't play, and if they want to stay then they will be allowed to. But they can't complain when they are getting 0 minutes next season.
I still maintain that we're going to lose at least a couple without Calipari's "help." It would be totally shocking to go through a season like we just went through and not have at least a couple of casualties because players weren't performing in the classroom.

Supposedly, Stewart just quit going to class... can't say I'd be surprised if this wasn't the case with a couple of players. :shrug1:

If true, that's bad news. If for no other reason it will hurt UK's academic progress score. Players can earn two point a semester, one for completing the semester in good standing and one for enrolling next fall. If he just stops going to class he won't finish in good standing. Assuming he leaves UK, we would get a 0 for 2.

I've heard the same thing. There are some serious issues with Stewart... I don't think he is all there.
I would be shocked if he were on the team next year.

I thought that way BEFORE any word of his academic standing came out.
He'd be better off going to a program where he'll see some floor time his last two years. Sitting out for a year, getting his academics in order, working on his game and then showcasing whatever skill he has for two full years as a starter somewhere else would do him (and UK, by freeing up a scholarship) a world of good.....
