Sophomore pitcher Tommy Warner tossed his first career complete game Wednesday to lead the No. 13 Kentucky baseball team to a 9-3 win over Murray State in the opening game of a doubleheader at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Warner (2-0) struck out five batters in seven innings of work for the Wildcats (31-10, 11-7), allowing seven hits and not allowing an earned run. Murray State (12-29, 5-10 OVC) senior right-hander Matt Scalfani (0-2) was credited with the loss, working two innings and allowing three earned runs

Sophomore center fielder Antone DeJesus led UK going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored, while junior John Shelby, the reigning SEC Player of the Week, added three RBI.

DeJesus led off the game with a stand-up triple down the right-field line and scored on an RBI single by catcher Sean Couglin two batters later to give Kentucky the early 1-0 advantage.

32-10 They won the second of the double header tonight in a 3-2 come from behind victory. I saw the last few innings on FSN. IN the bottom of the seventh Cowgill (I believe) hit a two run homer to put the Cats ahead 2-1. He put it over the top of the right field fence score board and it's a tall, tall score board.

These guys are good, I'm thinking about a trip to Cliff Hagan Stadium before the home games run out.

Hey Ed. I was just looking at the schedule. I printed one after our visit to UL's stadium. I want to take my grandsons to a game. Got one in mind? I would make it a 2, no 3 for 1. 1. See the Batcats in Lex 2. Have an outing with my little boys, and maybe a bonus 3. visiting my son. With Derby and Mother's Day the next 2 weekends it might be slim pickings.

There are several home games between now and Derby but it would be impossible for me to go to any of them.

These are the remaining UK home games after the Derby.

Wednesday, May 10th, 6:30 pm UK vs Belmont

Friday, May 12th, 6:30 pm, UK vs Mississippi State (Telecast Live on FSN)

Saturday, May 13th, 7:00 pm, UK vs Mississippi State (Telecast Live on FSN)

Sunday, May 14th, 1:00 pm, UK vs Mississippi State (the Last Home Game)

Either the Wednesday Belmont or the Sunday Miss St. game could work for me. My car holds eight. Maybe we could get a group together. My two sons and my Bro may be interested. It would be cool to put out the word and get a group of WCNers in the stands. The Sunday game would be great; last home game, we could send these players off to the SEC tournament with a bang.
