Barring a surprise, Kentucky will add a second recruit today when guard Jodie Meeks commits to the Cats.
Meeks, a 6-foot-4 guard from Norcross, Ga., made an official recruiting visit to UK last weekend. Before the trip, his father said a commitment to UK was likely if the visit went well.
Back home yesterday, Orestes Meeks spoke glowingly of the visit.
"It was wonderful," the prospect's father said. "We enjoyed it."
Orestes Meeks also touted Lexington: "Pretty," "diverse" and "friendly." And he noted how persuasive UK Coach Tubby Smith can be.
"From my perspective, Coach Smith is an unbelievable man," he said. "He's a difference-maker."
When asked to define difference-maker, the elder Meeks said, "He knows so much about what (prospects) have to go through. He brings so much credibility to the process."
Whatever the outcome -- Alabama and Florida are in the running -- the process should conclude today.
"We're going to talk about what we heard," the elder Meeks said of the family's plans for last night. "We'll let people know on Monday."
Meeks has called a 5 p.m. news conference today at Norcross High to announce his choice.
