Scout.com Player Evaluation:
STRENGTHS - Multi-Positional, Passing, Size for Position
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT - Ballhandling Perimeter, Shot, True Point Guard
Kendrick is one of those unique wings who will either be a skilled small forward or a point man. He's working towards the latter and has the natural ability to make it happen. Great size, vision and passing skills. Needs to tighten up his handle in traffic but that will come easier once his game grows into his body.

Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake small forward Jelan Kendrick had an outstanding NBA Players Association Camp last week, but don't expect any movement on his recruitment.
The 6-foot-6 Kendrick told me last week that he has 32 scholarship offers on the table and that he's "really wide open." He has a number of big-time schools on the list.
But what any locals?
Kendrick said he "had an offer when (Billy) Gillispie was at Kentucky" and he also noted that "when coach (John) Calipari was at Memphis they offered me."
"I have talked to (UK assistant) coach Orlando (Antigua) but my AAU coach has been in touch with them. I know Kentucky has a great tradition and now with coach (Calipari), I am sure he's going to go in there and blow it out of the water."
Kendrick said he also had an offer from Indiana and noted that he "really liked coach (Tom) Crean. He's a great coach and they have a great staff."
He said that Texas, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Wake Forest, Temple, Cincinnati, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Clemson, Xavier and LSU are among the other schools that have offered a scholarship.
"I am very lucky and very blessed," Kendrick said. "There are new coaches and people moving all around, so I'm still trying to see what's going on. I want to see if I have a personal relationship with the coaches and then I'll try and weed (schools) down."
Kendrick is a versatile player that can play a number of different positions. He's a talented passer and made it easy last week at the NBA PA Camp getting baskets around the rim.
After two days of the camp, Scout.com national analyst Dave Telep said this about Kendrick: "He's been outstanding at camp and has the physical attributes that give him a distinct advantage: length, body style and natural ability. On Friday it was his court vision, passing and mid-range game that were on display."

Jelan Kendrick offers a multi faceted game, offensively being able to create for others and score the ball. His versatility allows him to play the 1 through 3. It has led to dozens of college coaches positioning for his services. Rivals.com has recently listed him as the fourth best overall player in his class.
I had the opportunity to speak with Jelan Tuesday night as the LeBron James Skills Academy wrapped up. Jelan laughed about LeBron, “I didn’t get to play against him but got to see how big he was.” Jelan by all reports has continued his strong play this week in Ohio and with the active recruiting period in July currently going, I asked if he expected anymore attention from college coaches than previously before. “Not really, I’ve already developed a good relationship with all the coaches. They just might push for a commit while time goes by.”
