This has probably been discussed here before... I just finished reading Shannon Ragland's book. I would suggest if you haven't read it yet that you do so. As a long time Kentucky football fan I, like most everyone of us, have been in many, many conversations concerning "what happened that made Kentucky football what it is?", at least to my generation (my first real memory of UK football was the 1976 Peach Bowl). Over the years I have had several theories but this book may have finally given me the answer.
On a side note - I would have loved to have had the summer conditioning program Bradshaw gave his team in 1962 (it's outlined on page 163).
