"Kentucky rose to No. 8 with its sweep of Mississippi, which entered the series with 11 consecutive victories. That gave the Wildcats nine Southeastern Conference wins in 10 games and moved them into first place overall in the conference."

Nope. This is a history making team. Here's a link from the CJ. Good story.

Hosting a regional & even a super-regional are real possibilities.

I plan to be there Sunday. Anyone else going? My son doesn't do baseball.

When was it that UK re-vamped the baseball stadium? Not too long ago? And our new coach is in his 2nd year, is it? It sure looks like we're on the rise in the 3rd sport. So, here I'm enjoying spring baseball, looking forward to an improved football team, and wondering what the heck to expect in Nov when Tubby's boys hit the court.

This is John Cohen's third year at the helm of the Wildcats. He was an assistant at Florida before coming to the Bluegrass.

The baseball stadium was remodeled and improve significantly in 2002.

A great stadium. Where else can you get a chocolate icecream sundae in a UK helmet?? They looked yummy. I opted for the coffee in the cold rain. Heck, you can even get a smoothie and kettle corn. Oh yes. You can see a great baseball team too :P

Yes. There are 16 4-team, two losses & out regionals first. I don't know the rules, but my memory of where they are played says the top 16 teams host one unless there's something wrong with their facility. Those occur the week after the SEC tourney.

The next weekthe top eight winners host the other eight in a best 2 of 3.

The following weekend starts the two 4-team pods College BB WS with those winners playing 2/3.

I was good and just settled for a hot cup of coffee. I'm planning on going Sunday. Might have to get in to the kettle corn. Looks like it will be too cold for a sundae:cry:

The top seed in each mini-regional will be one of the top 16 teams in the country. The top 8 teams are seeded so that they cannot meet in a super-regional. Super-regional pairings are not based on the seeding of the second 8 teams, rather they are supposed to match top-8 and second-8 teams from the same geographical area but not from the same conference. (Teams from the same conference can still meet in a super-regional if a lower-seeded team comes out of a mini-region.)
The other three teams in each mini-regional are distributed based on seedings but with an attempt to draw teams from the same geographical area while excluding teams from the same conference. Obviously practical considerations (travel, host team, distribution of teams that qualify for the tournament based on RPI and conference winners) come into play as well.
The top 8 seeds will be announced, and the winner of the respective super regional will inherit that seed in the College World Series

Thanks. If I read this right, if the #1 team in the country losses its regional to a team with a losing record overall(the tournament champion ofa weak conference) & that same team wins the super-regional, then that losing record team would be the number one seed in the CBB WS?
