This is another good read.
NORCROSS — If Jodie Meeks needed any more proof of just how important basketball is at the University of Kentucky, he got it this weekend.
Walking out of Rupp Arena during his official visit in Lexington, Meeks saw a line of students and fans waiting to purchase tickets for the school’s annual Big Blue Madness basketball celebration in October.
He thought that was amazing enough, a university selling 23,000 tickets for what amounts to a glorified practice, but then he experienced what Kentucky basketball was really all about.
Fans, students, children and adults begin asking him for his autograph and posing for pictures with him. The high school senior from Norcross was being treated like the big man on campus already, and none of the autograph seekers had ever even seen him play.
“It’s like you’re royalty,” Meeks said with a grin. more,,,,,
