Georgia head coach Dave Perno had a couple of interesting comments after the game.

Firstly, he questioned Kentucky's decision to walk Morriss and pitch to Felmy in the 8th (there were runners on 1st and 3rd), saying, "We wouldn't do that. They (Kentucky) put the winning run in scoring position."

At the same time, he also joked about Kentucky not walking Morriss before the Grand Slam in the 7th, saying that, "Barry Bonds once got walked with the bases loaded."

(The sad thing is, we might have won the game had we walked him in the 7th
).

Also, in reference to Kentucky's closer, Alders, who lost the game:

"I know he's their closer, but if you look at his numbers . . ., he's just no match for our offense."

Athens, did you go to the game?

The next two days will be a real test for us. This is really the first time the Cats might feel some pressure this season. No one has expected anything out of this team to this point and now they sit on the cusp of a first ever conference championship. I know I'm feeling a little pressure! Let's hope they get it done tonight and avoid the make or break of a Sunday afternoon, final game scenario. Of course, we need Alabama to drop at least one over the weekend at UT (unless we win the next two:)), so the kitchen is heating up this weekend in the Cats quest for history. GO CATS! BEAT THEM DAWGS!

I'll be following closely and following. The site Freethrow posted is great for tracking the game.

GO CATS!!!!!

That's a pretty bush comment for a leader of young men to make, IMO.

That's about what you can expect, I guess, from the school that hired Jim Harrick. :?

Complete different administration ..... apples and oranges, but I do admire your persistence in getting a jab in about basketball in a baseball discussion.

It's one thing to build your team up with post-game quotes, but quite another to put down the opposition. So just how can this bozo coach be so proud of his team if they were playing such poor competition?

I hope those quotes are taped to all the UK lockers for the rest of the weekend.

Whoa, there Hoss. Neither Will nor I said anything about basketball, just discussing the character of former Georgia coaches. It had absolutely nothing to do with any sport. You're the one unwilling to simply read the post instead of projecting more into it than what it is. So you can roll your eyes back into your head as far as I'm concerned.

And BTW, I think Tubby's got more character in his pinky toenail thanHarrickand their baseball coach combined.

Harrick, BTW, was hired by the president of the university over the objection of then AD Vince Dooley. Guess who was on the right side of that dispute.

I know. Michael Adams was the president of Centre College when I was a student there. Spoke to him on many occasions, and he always struck me as weirdly beauracatic, puffed-up, a sort of caricature of a college preside-cum-politician.

Point taken and apology conveyed.

You get a little jaded and defensive moderating forums sometimes. As the judge would say, the jury should just ingore that portion of my testimony. :?

Yes, I was there.

The stands were relatively wide-open if you can make it over here.

The Georgia crowd is kind of late-arriving.

However, this was the first SEC game of the year that was played on a Thursday night. Many were probably thinking the series began tonight.

Game time tonight is 6:00, tomorrow @ 1:00.

Well,their coach sounds rather juvenile.

Athens, I hope that you get to witness us doing a better job of closing the game tonight.:thumbup

I can't make it tonight but will try to tomorrow. My grass is almost up to my knees so I have a few chores to take care of.....

He got ejected in the 2nd inning for arguing a close call at first base.

It seemed to work to his advantage late in the game, as Georgia got the benefit of a couple of close calls at 1st.

FWIW, the ump that ejected him will be behind home plate tonight.
We'll see how that goes . . .

IMO, our best shot at winning, from a purely match-up standpoint, is tomorrow.
However, we don't want to lose 2 in a row, and try to re-gain momentum tomorrow, no matter how good a pitcher we are throwing.

Let's get it done tonight! :thumbup

Athens or anyone going to the game today. Parking may be at a premium. Two high school graduations are going on tonite at Stegman which is right next to the ball park. One is at 6 and the other at 8. Good luck on cheering on the CATS and finding a parking space!

Thanks for the heads-up.

Thankfully, I'm within walking distance (but the drive is much easier ;)).

I'll just head out a bit early.

Go BATCATS!:thumbup

When things got rough tonight, Coach Perno sent his pitching coach out to get ejected.

Apparently, back2back suspensions are frowned upon by the league office.
