As much as people are a little bit upset about how UK played yesterday consider these:

1. Overall we only were -1 in the turnover margin.

2. We played clutch. We the game was on the line, our offense put up the needed points and the defense made the needed stop.

3. Yards per carry. We dominated in yards per carry.

4. We only had a single three and out, and that was our final drive of the game.

5. There were roughly about 4-5 plays alone that would have changed the entire lay out of the game. If those few plays go differently, it's the score everybody thought against the Louisville team everybody thought. This game had the potential to get out of hand, and very easily could have.

6. Only 1 person in a team that likes to use the 2 back system got over 20 yards. Their number 2 running back got 2 yards. Seriously, for a running back to get 12 carries and only 2 yards is insane. Our fullback got more yards then their QB, FB, and #2 RB combined.

I know that people think the sky is falling and that Tebow is going to do to us what he should have done to UT. But think about this. Historically, every Rich Brooks team lays an egg for 1-2 games per season. This is 1 then, and at least our awful was better than their good.

And finally, think about this. Florida just has game footage of us against an awful team and of us playing awful. They don't have footage of us playing well against a not awful team. We know what Florida is going to do, we know what they are capable of. But, do they know the same things about us? I'm thinking that's a little more of a gray area.

Good post. I'll add:

Anderson rushed for 54 of his 110 yards on the 1st drive. 14 carries for 56 yards after that. Powell never got untracked and was snuffed out for losses totaling 16 yards.

Aside from the 1st drive and the long pass to Guy (a beautifully thrown ball by Burke), our defense played pretty well, especially given the fact they were stranded with their back to the wall for the entire 3rd quarter due to our special teams and offensive gaffes.

Interesting. But the only stat that really counts is the one on the scoreboard. We came out head on that one.

i agree 100%... plus burke looks like he may pan out to be a pretty darn good qb. he made some nice throws and good decisions yesterday. i thought we controlled the game for the most part. the turnovers were costly because they were consecutive. how our D didn't just kill over in the second half is beyond me.

everybody is saying we laid an egg yesterday and that's one of the few we'll lay this year. I sure hope so. Because we've sure been laying more than 1 or 2 eggs a season. Last year laid about 6-7 eggs. But I'm not convinced that yesterday was a egg anyway. I think that might be about how good we are. Good enough to demolish bad teams, pull it out against average ones, and get run over by the great ones. Sure we'll improve in a lot of areas but so will everyone else. Of course we saw yesterday that even the greats are capable of laying their own eggs and being beaten.
