Cats sure are leaving a lot of folks on base this series. Left three on in the top of the eight. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt.

WITNESS.

(I hope Nike sends me a black T-shirt. ;))

Great moment to be a part of, seeing the BAT CATS fight back from a devastating loss a night ago, and shut down a potent Georgia offense.

Hats off to Craig Snipp for a whale of a game. (And thank goodness that we didn't have to go to our bullpen).

The only sad part was the (typically classless) Georgia fans booing after the final out.

They were upset about our 7th inning rally. With two outs, and runners on 1st and 2nd, the UK batter singled to left, and there was a close play at the plate.
The umpire called him safe, and the next batter hit a three-run homer!

From my vantage point, the runner looked safe (I thought the tag was high on the body), but the catcher, coaches, and fans were furious.

Had the runner been called out, there would have been no 3-run homer, as that play would've ended the inning.

That's baseball, right?

Anyway, tons of fun to take our 1st SEC championship on the field of a perennial power, and a team that was vying to get a share of the crown.

Congratulations BATCATS! :thumbup

Almost makes up for the Mumme QB/Couch bootleg with UGA on the ropes in 99. Karma finally caught up to the Cats...and for once in a good way.

Are you talking about '97, when Couch was picked off at the end of the 1st half?

That was my first trip to Athens - what a miserable day!

I never came back until last spring, when I decided to go to school here.

And, yes, getting to see this in person is helping to improve my over-all appreciation of my (short) Athens experience. ;)

I am not really sure of the year I guess, but it was at UK, 1st and goal from inside the five right before the half. We score we go up big. On 4th and goal Mumme calls a naked boot with Couch. Needless to say it went nowhere and the momentum shift could be felt in Athens.

1998, then.

I was at both.

The '98 game was more disapppointing, because after walking out of Sanford Stadium in '97, I was certain that we'd get Georgia the next year.

We haven't beaten them since. :X
