No timely hitting today, as KY hit into 3 double plays, and failed to score a run, despite getting the lead-off hitter on base 4 times.
The team was flat today, which is not a complete shocker.
Dombrowski & Co. pitched well, and have nothing to be ashamed of.
Again, we just never could get a hit at the right time.
Cohen was giving 'em an earful out in left field after the game.
They'll be ready come Wednesday.

The productive hits just weren't there today. I was watching the Gametracker and I think the Cats left 2 on base in three innings. Combine that with the double plays and they just couldn't get anybody across the plate.
Georgia is a strong team and the UK pitching did okay, I thought. Hold the Dawgs to 4 runs on a normal batting day for UK would have meant victory for the Cats.

Georgia has been one of the really hot teams the last few weeks. I was worried about wrapping up with them---but thought we were hot enough to at least win 2. And that danged UGa pitcher that hand-cuffed our best batters on Saturday is only a frosh!!!

Baseball isn't all that much like football or basketball where a good butt-chew mayget players all roused up to go get a hit. It might help when a team has lost it's focus and is making bad fielding decisions etc. Didn't seem to me that this was the case with the Cats Saturday. They were playing solid defense but just did not get hits when needed. Leaving men stranded is just a mark of this UK team. Recently when they scored 18 runs, they also stranded 11 base runners. And Saturday it was 9 (I think) left on base with no runs--unusual for most teams.
Anyhow, whatever it takes to get the team playing it's best, Cohen certainly seems to have the handle.

They just didn't seem as sharp at the plate to me on Saturday.
After pulling out a tough one on Friday, they didn't seem to be able to do the little things offensively on Saturday, maybe a lack of focus, maybe just great pitching.
Hard to say for sure.
My point about the "earful" was that I think coach was probably reminding them that no matter how great a season a team has, one bad day at the plate can end a glorious season.
Saturday's game was a nice reminder of that, and IMO, was a good opportunity to get this team's attention heading into the conference tourney.
