I'm not complaining - just curious. Anyone know why Cohen would start Warner, who pitched very little during the season, instead of one of his 3 or 4 regular starters? Rather big kahunas on both guys part if you ask me. Kid still did a credible job giving up only two runs over 8 1/3 innings.

I read an article where Cohen said Warner is a fly ball pitcher and the Met is a very deep ballpark. Also, he didn't want to move his starters up a day and take a risk of injury when the NCAA's are looming.

The kid pitched a great game--had a shutout going into the 9th. I blame it on relievers not being able to close the door and lack of timely hitting in the 8th and 9th innings. We left 4 runners on the bases in those two innings.

Not sure about my stats, but I'm thinking our last 5 homers have all been solo shots. We need base runners when these guys come up.

I agree Warner pitched a great game. I kind of second guess Cohen for leaving him in so long, he is notone of the regular starters.

Don't we have a solid closer, we can count on, in a close game 9th inning save situation ?

I agree, Warner pitch a very good game, but I did wonder out loud if Cohen should have gone to the bullpen at the top of the ninth.

The main problem is that the Cats bats have been pretty silent for the last week. They need to put the metal on the ball and get some baserunners out there and then be productive in bringing them in to score.

This was a tough loss, but the Cats are still alive for at least another day. Funny, the top three seeded teams in the tournament have all lost today.

Make that the top four seeds....this is the first time I can remember that the top four seeds all lost on the first day. Just shows the strength of the SEC.
