Last night during the Pistons-Heat game, the TV people got to talking about Delk and Walker/Anderson (opposite teams) and then Prince and also Riley's link to UK. They really gave UK some great "press" there for a minute or two. Huey spoke of the '96 team and all the 7 or 8 guys that went on to the NBA from that team. He called the '96 UK team one of the greatest college teams of all time. Talked about Delk being the MVP of the Final Four that year, mentioned Mercer, etc.

Tubby couldn't buy that much good attention from young wannabeesfor a million dollars. And this may be why the NBA is worth watching now and then.

That '96 group is starting to age out these days---DA backing up Wade and only gets few minutes when Wade is getting a breather. Same with Delk for the Pistons. I fear this may be Tony's last year since he's not knocking down the threes as he once did. We need some more NBA calibre young ones coming along soon and I don't know if we have any in the incoming class or not. I'm not sure Rondo will be the kind of person we can be proud of in the NBA even if he is a good enough player.

Of all the UK players who have gone on to the NBA during the last decade, Nazr has been the biggest surprise to me. Never thought he'd make it at allbut when Duncan has been gimpy, he's stepped up and done a very commendable job this year.

You are absolutely right. That was great publicity for our program.:thumbup
Sometimes, I can't believe it's been ten years since that championship.

That's kind of a cheap shot on Rondo, isn't it? I never cared much for Mercer in The Association, but he was always a Wildcat Alumni. I don't get the impression that Rondo will be car jacking people on off days.

You are very correct about needing NBA-calibre talent. It takes multiple NBA-calibre players to win the national championship. Look back on the past 15 champs and you'll find multiple players who got drafted or played in the NBA for some length of time.

We've been missing that element since our '94-99 run. We need to get it back.

It's good seeing all these Wildcats in the pros....I'd really like it if they came back to Lexington for auto signings and stuff...esp Riley.

Thank you, RaleighCat. Exactly. Rajon Rondo neversat outa single game at UK because of disciplinary measures. To my knowledge, he never got into any trouble whatsoever. Tubby and the other coaches praised his heart and his efforts to improve his game. Sure, he was not perfect, but he was a youngster, besides a human being. :)Fans get impressions of players. Frankly, our impressions are sometimes wrong and unfair to human beings when expressedto others.
