kentucky basketball problem in the recruiting is. years ago we had 90 percent or more of our game on tv live we played top teams players got a l;ot of tv time to show what they had.now we play teams like highpoint our own local station dont show the game live just on tape delayed. kentucky basketball these days has as much tv time as a naia school why would any top player want to come here and only be seen on tape delay against team made up of players no one else wanted

I don't know which Kentucky team you're watching but it's not the Kentucky Wildcats.

How long has college basketball been around? Ky has only won 7 national titles so I guess its the same problem they've had all those other years that they didn't win a title.

noone is getting what im saying im a ky fan been since the early 70s we played in tournment and played top 25 teams and always got the good players now we play highpoint, morehead, eastern and so on we us tobe on national tv now we are just on wymt and kentucky stations thats what im saying.ive read on this forum from ky fans in other states syaing they might get to watch it on foxs south if it is replaced by something else it didnt use tobe like that if there was a ky game on and any other game youcan bet the ky game would be the one on tv.my point is kentucky got fans all over the nation by being national telvised now the fans outside of ky might have a 50 50 change of watching them on tv

So all of this is about the fact that you can't get as many Ky games in your area as you would like?
There is nothing wrong with Kentucky basketball. If you want to blame it on anything, blame it on the networks and the choices they make on what games should be televised. It's not UK's fault. As has already been mentioned, we play one of the toughest schedules in the country and we get our share of Top 25 schools. Along with that, hardly a week goes by that UK isn't on oneof the major networks or ESPN.
Where exactly are you at that you're having so much trouble getting the 'Cats games, anyway?

i would like to know what channels you are watching. i live in northwest ohio, and i watched nearly all of UK's games last season. most of which i watched on cbs or espn. the others i watched on espn fullcourt. the games are out there for people to watch if they really want to.obviously you are not one of those fans that really cares about watching UK basketball even if we had a down year. i hated this season as much as the next fan but i was still home to watch every game, and if i wasn't home then i recorded that game on my dvr and watched it when i was home. anyway, the onlyteam that i think was on tv more than UK last year was duke, and that is because of the tv contract that they have with the acc to televise games. i believe it is JPS that broadcasts most of the sec games isn't it. if the sec had a major contract with a station like that then you would see us on more than duke. it's all a matter on the television contracts that a conference has as to how many games are going to be televised.

No, of course not. I understand the point you're trying to make, I just don't happen to agree with it. Kentucky hasn't lost anything. The thing is as hard as it is for we UK fans to understand, the other schools like those you mentioned have a following, too, and like it or not, sometimes their games are going to get chosen over ours. Especially ESPN. Half their commentators are Duke grads and they think Coach K should be afforded god-like status. Plus, you get into all this regional coverage and depending on where you are, certain games are going to be pre-empted. Especially if you live on the Kentucky border near Tennessee or some of the other states.

Unfortuanetly anything on CBS anymore is regionally televised. Not just the Kentucky games, but all theirs games. They only emphasize the tournament anymore. It's not anything Kentucky did. As for the playing of smaller schools, it is just not possible to play a top twenty five team every game. We always have played our fair share of overmatched opponents like everyone else. These games give younger kids a chance to grow and develop, and build a litle confidence in case we need them in a more tense situation later down the road. Thas how its always been, but especially now since we typically play alomost 40 games a year. Every program does it and most(think Duke and UofL in particualr) play even more patsies than we do. The explosion of ESPN also gives alot more teams opprotunities to be shown on TV, most programs are more visible than they have been before. Kentucky is fine, our schedule is always tough, and Tubby recruits the guys he wants, not who we want. I just don't think people realize that just because someone thinks a player is good or bad, that our opinion is going to matter when Coach Smith looks at who he wants to put on his team. And as a side note, this is the best class of Tubby type players we have ever had, the next four years are gonna be the best we have seen in the Tubby Era.......jmo.

Every game was on live television last year. If you don't care enough about watching them to buy DirecTV, that is on you, not UK.
