I mentioned a while back the newspaper archive which allows people to search through literally millions of old newspaper pages through the years. This allows for some pretty interesting discoveries.

Below is one example of a funny story from 1932 about a UK recruit who made it to campus but never stayed around to play. His name was Brad Lair and he was six-foot-eleven, which at the time was huge (still is today).

Hadn't heard that one. If I am not mistaken, doesn't the NCAA now require athlete's beds to be the same size as what is provided in student housing, making the likes of Woo and Shag sleep on beds that don't come close to fitting?

JonThe beds we had at Holmes Hall for the basketball team were regular length..Jim Andrews hung over the end at least 8 inches..The mattresses were from World War II
