A month ago, Holy Cross football coach Barry Wilson had a pretty simple list of goals for his team.
The Tigers had over 80 boys out for football and had some big stars like running back Moncell Allen, who had already committed to Kentucky before the season even started.
Like every year, Holy Cross was hoping for a Catholic League title. More importantly, the Tigers wanted to get past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
Flash-forward to today and Holy Cross has yet to play its first game.
When Wilson and his team take the field at Ouachita on Thursday, they'll look almost nothing like the squad that played in the jamboree a month ago.
The roster has been reduced to about 30 kids — some of whom have never played in a high school football game.
The star players are all gone. Allen is in North Carolina. Starting quarterback Lance Lacoste is suiting up for St. Mary's in Natchitoches along with a number of other former Tigers.
It's remarkable that Holy Cross has a team at all...
