Well the Kentucky boys all-stars got swept by the Indiana boys all-stars, with the second game having a worse margin of defeat, 94-66. They were simply run out of the gym. Indiana's Mr. Basketball Greg Oden sat out the game again but his high school teammate Mike Conley had 14 assists, while the entire Kentucky team had 12. Kentucky shot 34.2% from the field and Lexington Lafayette's Tyler Wilkerson led all Kentucky scorers with 16 points. Shelby County's A.J. Slaughter, Kentucky's leading scorer for the first game, ended up with 9 points. Robert Buckner of Louisville Eastern High School contributed 11 points. Once again, Kentucky's Mr. Basketball, South Laurel's Walt Allen, was less then stellar with a whopping 2 points in 17 minutes of play. Anderson High's DeJovaun Sawyer-Davis led all Indiana scorers with 14 points. I can't even imagine what would've happened if Greg Oden actually played in the game. The refs would probably have to make up their own mercy rule in the first half. I am embarrassed as a native Kentuckian and hope they can get their act together for next year's series. Good luck to all the participants in tonight's game in the college ranks.

This is pretty telling. Kentucky high school basketball is probably the weakest of any state that have SEC schools now. Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana and Mississippi all have the equal to or better than Kentucky high school basketball. Arkansas probably does as well.
So, what does that mean for UK? It means we must go out of state and recruit or forget about competing in our league muchless the nation. But we have kinown that for a long time.

Boys are definitely trading in the round ball for the oblong ball, we've been turning out some top quality HS football players in the state the last few years.

As much as I hate to see Kentucky high school basketball in this state, it's better for UK that kids are playing football more than basketball. UK basketball will always be able to recruit nationwide, plus you just need a handful of great players. UK football always needs a lot of talented players to be coming in, and it's going to be a lot easier to recruit them with a hometown advantage.
