Great retrospective, Larry.

That's around the time I was becoming a sports fan. The Dampier-Riley-Jaracz team is the first UK team I have any memory of at all. I became a lifelong Packers fan around that time. Finally, back when World Series games were played during the daytime our teachers would periodically announce the game scores, as growing up in western Kentucky practically everyone (except me, strangely) was a Cardinals fan.

:cool:Larry.....I walked the hallowed grounds of UK the following summer ,and like you missed the fight in SE Asia ,narrowly. That war was plenty of incentive to stay in school. You mentioned Phil Thompson, who later become one of my good frinds amongst a crowd of cat fans that found post college refuge in Dallas. More fortunate than me , Phil married a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader . But one of the brighter campus moments my freshman year was watching Phil's girlfriend that year.... one Kaye Beard .......at AFROTC, conduct drills once a week on the lawn facing Kennedy's. What a fox in her day!!
