Was looking on rotoworld for some fantasy football news and read where J-Lo is surprisingly 2nd behind Manning. The article said he out played Tim Hasslebeck and Rob Johnson during mini-camp. It was nice to hear that and I hope I see him onthe field sometime.

That's wonderful. If #2 he'll get some major time in preseason.
Good for him!

I'll ask the obvious question. How fat is he now after two years in the NFL?

For what it's worth, I heard on ESPN this weekend that he was the #2 going into mini camp and Mel Kiper was told he was 270

Anyway, I am a big Jared fan and hope that he continues to progress. Very good news indeed.

Whatt always got me about JL was how nimble he was on his feet & thus could avoid so many direct hits. Then since they could only get a hand on him, with his size & strength he could still make something happen other than taking a sack. Of course that FL game is one where I'd wish he'd taken the sack though!

I still remember the Georgia Game at home when you he through the ball over his heads backwards into the hands of a wildcat as he was going down

I was down at the UK-UT game (Morriss' last game as HC) and I was sitting next to this young gal who seemedmuch moreinto the game than the casual fan. I got to talking to her and she was John Goodner'sdaughter and was married to the DL coach. I asked her aboutJared's weight and how I thought it was BS he couldn't losethe excess weight and she rubbed her thumb and forefinger together and said "whenthe NFL comes calling he'll lose it". Sad he didn't have the discipline to lose the weight when he was here. It would have really helped the team and maybe we would have won a few more games?
I am about to collect on a bet I made with a buddy a couple of years ago. I said Jared would be an NFL Quarterback when all was said and done. My buddy bet me $50.00 to $5.00 that he would never take a snap in a regular season game. He didn't last season but I am confident he is going to this year. Yeeee Haaaawwww show be the Money Big Boy!!!!!

He is still the Melvin Turpin of college football. Dinner Bell Mel ate his way out of the NBA. J-Lo still has some trimming down to do, to ensure a livlihood in the NFL. I hope he makes it.
At 255 - 260 and maintaining his arm strength and accuracy, J-Lo is an NFL QB.
Even though he has failed to meet his promises and goals with regard to his weight time after time, I'm still hoping for him. He's a good person and I'd sure like to see him get out from under Mom's apron and become a responsible man---and great QB. Jared gave a lot to UK during some tough years and every fan has to appreciate this.
It only takes one good contract to assure a young man financial security for life if he manages that income wisely.
Even the NFL hasn't really been able to keep his weight down. He reportedly reported to Giants camp last year around 300 pounds. The coaches were said to be disappointed. He has such talent, I just hope he can capitolize on it. I would love to see him actually get to play. If he is really at 270 I think that is probably good enough. He is just a huge man. At 300 though, he is a fat man. He will never be 260 more than likley, but he also can't be 300.

But didn't Jared realize during his college career that his Draft stock would soar if he could have just lost 30-50 lbs? Why wait until your college career is over and you don't get drafted to try to get into shape?
I always liked Jared, but it was frustrating thinking about how good he could have been if could have gotten in shape.

Exactly, RCS. For Jared, 270 is "keeping his weight down." :)Like you, I suspect keeping it there (although losing more would surely be beneficial) is "probably good enough."

Jared at a legit 270 could be and probably will end up being a starter somewhere in the NFL. This kid is 6ft4 with a frame like a mack truck. Ideal weight for him would be 265 to 275. I would think he played his senior season at 325 or a little better. He was bigger than any of his starting linemen.

This is a bit off topic, but a couple of weeks ago Cutler had Antonio Hall on his show on 630. They got on the subject of Jareds weight, and Both guys were being a little critical. Hold up, was all i could think, Cutler, no matter what Jared does, you can still get your kicks by being a friend of everyone who ever played at Uk, and telling us about it at everyturn. Antonio, you are not excactly playing in the league. Sorry for the rant.Had to do it.

While he may have occassionally been listed at 270 during his UK days, I doubt he ever actually weighed that. Even when Guy tried to crack the whip and get him to shed the pounds, I'm guessing he was never much under 285. For him to be down to 270 with the Giants is a real feat. If he could ever actually get down to 260-265, he really would be a potential star in the bigs. Jared really needs to begin a love affair with lettuce in a big way. I actually think that if he did, he could have far more potential in the NFL than Tim ever really did.
