In all sincerity, I was hoping the young man would get drafted. From what I hear, he's a quality young man and he deserves a shot at the next level. I'm sure he'll do well whereever he lands, but I'm hoping we see him in the NBA soon. Maybe he'll be able to land a free agent deal and catch on that way.
Good luck to him.

Honestly, I never expected Dean to get drafted. Not even in the second round. He'll make a nice living playing basketball oversea's, but I really don't think he is NBA material. Don't get me wrong, I loved the guy and he gave everything he had every night, he is one of my all time favorite players, but he just doesn't have the game to make it in the NBA.

This draft had very little rhyme or reason. Balkman gets taken in the 1st round, and a shooter like Dean misses out all together. Go figure. He'll catch on somewhere.

Is somebody's feelings hurt? I believe the traditional response that comes from your brethren is "lighten up little sis.....after all this is a smack board." I think I'm quoting that pretty accurately.

Dean was another Dejuan Wheat. Great shooter, but liitle else. Takes more than that to make it in the big leagues. The Spurs did invite him to camp though, so you never know. He had a very impressive showing at Orlando's camp. I wish him all the best where ever he ends up. Great kid.

It really doesn't matter to whom he was referring. Its a case of one of the "pots" calling the kettle black.

It'slow classto hate on a team so bad you wish bad things on KIDS that played for that school after they graduate.
I just think it's way below the belt to talk smack about aplayer thatmissed on his dream. Dean was a class act, he worked harder than any kid at UofL since Griff. He was a role model on and off the court. Deanand Garcia went to the SAC many nights around 2-3am and would play until day light.
I knowTD and talked to him the morning of the draftso yes when I see people on here enjoying themselves because he didn'tget drafted, yeah it fires me up a bit.

wow!!!!!!!!!!!!
rick, you and i usually see eye to eye on these types of things. but, if that's how you feel why's it okay to talk about kelenna??? sure he was an underclassman. but, he was all the things you say dean was and was trying to provide for his family. yet, none of that was taken into cosideration this time last year when he went undrafted.

Oh...but that is soooo different. Kelenna wore BLUE. It was OUR ox being gored, not his. Thats hitting above the belt.

I understand it is a smack board and all, but did this thread have to turn into this?

As the originator of the thread, my intent was just to give Dean some props and send some good wishes his way. Nothing more. I had no idea some would want to use it for smack bait.
Oh, well..

First example of smack on this thread:
"wish (class would) rub off on a few other members here"
No one should be surprised that discourse went down hill from that point.

your intentions were good BB75.......but as usual someone had to ruin it by calling out other posters.....I have said many times I liked Dean and wish him the best..the same goes for Mike Bush..great kid and I hope he gets that Heisman trophy

well, i think i've made it clear in the past how much respect i have for taquan dean. however, we dealt with a few cheap shots @ kelenna and even randolph. it doesn't work both ways.
