View Full Version : Good news - bad news
We're getting a Frosh walkon punter from SC - Steven Picone is built like a soccer player at 5-9 165 - and he's supposed to be very good. Also akicker from the Northern KY area is also supposed to be walking on. Hopefully someone can fill in the blanks.:)
The bad news I'm hearing is that Lones Seiber - our kicker from Tennessee is needing surgery and will likely miss this season. Don't know the particulars yet.

Hearing that Seiber has an injury, but that surgery hasn't been decided yet.

Don't we still have the walk-on senior from last year? I thought he redshirted.

We had a boatload ofPKs in the spring. The ones I have listed are JJ Housley, Brian Scott, Brian Przepyszny, Mark Gotcher, and Tommy Brummett. I think I read somewhere that Housley and Scott came out of spring drills bracketed at no. 1. If they all come back in August plus Lones Seiberand the kid from northern Kentucky walks on, that would be 7 PKs.
I list 3 punters: Tim Masthay, Kris Kessler, and Steven Picone.
You might be thinking about Kessler, he's the only senior in the bunch.

There was a guy last year that was better than Mathsay, and he was the penciled in starter, but got hurt. I thought he redshirted. It doesn't sound like Kressler. His redshirt year was two years ago I think. Guess that guy is gone.

I was wondering about Seiber and found this thread in a search. Has anyone heard anything recently about whether he's having surgery or whether he'll miss the season?

Not sure, but I think I remember a recent post on TCP that debunks the rumor that Seiber was hurt.
Again, not sure about this ...

Guys, HELP! I had somehow missed this thread about Seiber's injury. Any updates, guys?
Suggesting the importance of Seiber's availibility would be Coach Brooks' remarks in an earlier interview for the Cats' Pause Yearbook. Hereis his responsewhen asked about the kicking game:
"The placekicking situation is up in the air. Going into fall camp, it may be the biggest question. Is freshman Lones Seiber going to come in and take the job away?"
I think we can read between the lines. Again, does anyone have any info about Mr. Seiber? Thanks in advance.
I haven't heard anymore personally but it's being reported on another site that Lones had arthroscopic surgery on his hip and it's hopefull he'll be good to go this fall.

Thanks a million, RV. Too, goodness knows, the UK football program needs GOOD NEWS and not bad news. Let's HOPE and pray that Lones will indeed "be good to go this fall."
