I thought it was time fora new thread.
It's almost July. When we wake up tomorrow, we will be in the the month prior to the first college football games of the year (and just 2 months away from our opener!)
So, whatare you most looking forward to/most excited about this season?
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.

And likewise, a happy holiday weekend to you, as well.
For me, I'm just looking forward to seeing the Wildcats take the field and get at it again. There's something about the atmosphere at Commonwealth that's electric and energizing, and I'm looking forward to getting to as many home games as I can. I'm hopeful that we can finally get over the hump and start winning on a consistent basis and get back to some bowl games. At this point (IMO), the time for debate and speculation is over and we have the spectre of probation behind us. Now is the time for the team and the staff to turn things around and move forward.
I'm "most" looking forward to making room on my schedule for a road trip to the city where the 'Cats are playing in a bowl. And yes, I believe it can and will happen this season.

Micah Johnson and the other freshman who will make an immediate impact.
Having a nearly full stable of scholarship players to use, which should increase the depth, cut down on the fatigue and (hopefully) the injuries.
Having almost every playmaker from last year back.
Basically, those above-listed reasons all go to the one main reason I'm looking forward to this season: It's the first time since 2003 and only the second time since about 1999 that a season opened with a realistic chance of having a competitive, possibly bowl-eligible team.

All of the above. Good posts.
I am looking forward to a healthy Tony Dixon. I hope his freshman success was no fluke (I don't believe it was), and we have the potential to be LOADED in the backfield. When was the last time we could say something like that?
I am looking forward to seeing a player step up and OWN the QB spot. It'll happen before the UL game..it has to. We can't go in with two QB's splitting the pt. The other 10 men on the field need consistency in that important leadership position.
Like Bigblue75...I am most looking forward (selfishly!) to actually going to several games this year. Last season was the first since '98, only the second since '95, that I did not attend a game. My wife and I are already planning several trips this year, however. It doesn't hurt that we have family in Georgetown, one of which happens to be a 1-year-old cutie of a niece. THAT makes the 4-hour drive worth it every time, with or without football. :)

Hello, I'm new here but have posted onUK and SECboards.
I would be thrilled if UK goes 2-10 if the two winsare the first and last games. Kentucky is way, way overdue against Tennessee.

These are the two games I'd most like to see us win---even if it does embarrass me to give UofL such a lofty position among our opponents. But it would surely be a long dry spell between these two games.
I'm most eager to see what our total package looks like this year. Mostly because this is probably the make or break season for the staff. (I wish next year would be that season because we'll be still better yet in 2007, but 2006 is the year that Brooks must win some games.) I like the people on our staff and I very much want to see them succeed as well as enjoying some wins for the players andmyself.
So, I'm just eager to see if the whole thing is coming together as in "I love it when a plan comes together."

I'm with you...this is a make or break year for Brooks. I sure would like to see the Cats get a "big" win over any of Florida, Georgia,or Tennessee. We go decades without beating these schools. In my lifetime UK has beaten all three in the same year just once, in 1977.

I want to see Keenan Burton have a injury free and successful season. This poor kid has been through enough. Would also like to see the Cats be the the last nail in the coffin for Mr. Fulmer, thus, causing him tobe run out of town.

WELCOME!
I'm looking forward to this season for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I believe our beloved football team is ready for a breakout season. I'm going out on that proverbial limb and predicting a 7-5 regular season for our Cats and an extra game during the holidays. :thumbup

Honestly, I'm very excited at the chance of being proven wrong. I've never agreed with the Books' hire. However, I've never bashed the man like some have. I'm cautiously optimistic that this could be a really solid year for us. If so, I will be one of the first here admitting a rush to judgement. Also, really looking forward to see micah. I'm very anxious to see if Little can continue where he left off.

I'm looking forward to finally having a back, our first since 'Tose, who makes fans of our opponents cry out at their TV screens, "Why can't we TACKLE HIM??!!!"
(In fact, we might have two of those guys.)
It's exasperating to watch these speed demons that UT and Florida perenially have run past our sissy tacklin' while I sit in my recliner and throw crap at the plasma. And it's just downright embarassing to see the guy's backup come in and do the same thing.:?
Our defense might not be much improved this season, but I guaran-darn-tee you that Little and Dixon are going to flat run over some folks. Can't wait to see it. :D

Not needing to discuss whether RB will be back. I'm long tired of it. Anything else would be fine.

I just LOVE college football season. I get up at 8 am, break out the day's meal whether it be bratwurst, steak that needs to be thawed.. whatever just as long as it can be grilled! Go out for my morning run. Shower. Flip on ESPN Sportscenter. Pick up the paper and read up on the day's games. Break down which ones take priority if multiple must-see games are on at same or overlapping times. Pull out my trusty preseason mags to brush up on unfamiliar players/teams/whatever if I am catching uncommon team in my area (west coast games mostly). By this time Kirk and Lou are really heating it up on the day's festivities... I listen more closely to their insights.
Around noon, the first game starts! And its on while the grill is heating up for the early afternoon meal. About halftime, I am flipping to another game that's in progress. Grab the first meal of the day and clean up the plate with a brew in tow. I catch the 3 PM games, then its Sportscenter for a brief rundown on the day's results complete with highlights. Kirk and Lou again to run over the final games of the day and their analysis of those games. First game of the evening kicks off around 6ish, and its time to fire up the grill again for dinner! After the last game on ESPN ends (usually around 9ish), I catch the post game show before flipping over to FSN to catch one LAST game of the day being played on the west coast. I usually fall asleep on the couch after that!!
My wife.. no idea what she does on Saturdays. Does she stay around the house?? :D

Something I forgot to mention:
NCAA FOOTBALL 2007 FROM EA SPORTS!
That, to me, marks the official beginning of the college football season. Especially this year, since I've upgraded from the PS2 to the XBox 360.

. I want to go to a bowl, I want to see us beat an SEC team OTHER THAN Vandy of Miss St.. I EXPECT to see both happen. Now for my "wish list". An upset of UofL on National TV in the opener. Beat Tennessee, beat Tennessee and oh yes let me add beat Tennessee.

Just a silver membership. I'll probably upgrade to Gold when I move back to Louisville when school starts.

GOING BOWLING!!! :cool::cool::cool:
Next, I, too, was going to mention Keenan Burton. That is my second wish, behind the team's(and us fans'!) getting to go bowling. How I hope both happen! They are honestly two of my greatest wishes, period, beyond health and happiness for my family and for all human beings,of course. I LOVE UK football and can hardly wait for the season to begin!
By the way, I hadmissed seeingthis thread. Great idea for a thread, and I hope EVERYONE had a happy holiday! Too, WELCOME, LA cat! :)

Seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Whether RB performs, or gets fired and replaced with someone who can get it done.
One way or another I am excited that we may soon be winning.
No more excuses.
