Hey fellow Cat fans, send this one to your UT buddies...

A cattle rancher outside Nashville was working his cattle one day when he heard faint music coming from nearby. After hunting about for a time, he discovered the sound was loudest near one particular calf, and was even louder near the calf's tail. Putting his head close to the calf's hind end, he heard the University of Tennessee fight song, Rocky Top.

Amazed, he put the calf in the truck and drove the animal to a vet in Nashville. When the vet asked him what was going on, the farmer told him. The vet went around behind the calf and gave a listen. He agreed he heard the University of Tennessee fight song but didn't seem particularly excited.

"Man, how can you stand there and not be amazed?" the farmer asked.

The vet, a third generation University of Kentucky graduate, said, "Bud, I'm a Wildcat, and I've been listening to assholes sing that song my whole life".

My problem is that I love Rocky Top---it's a very catchy tune with fun lyrics. I'm a bit jealous because we don't have something as exciting.

My heart leapswhen I hear the band strike up our fight song. But is ain't no Rocky Top.

OK. But do they have to play it continously from pre-game to post-game? I think it's the only "tune" the UT band can play!!!

The joke works a lot better if you don't have to make it G-rated and substitute the word "jerks" in the place of the one that rhymes with "gas coal."

The thing that always cracks me up about Rocky Top is that it isn't even UT's fight song!!! It wasn't even out until 1967. It just makes no sense.

Maybe UK should start playing "Cat Scratch Fever" after every touchdown. . . And every first down. . . And every PAT. . . And every rush for positive yards. . . And every tackle for a gain of less than five. . . And every time Fulmer manages not to trip over his headset wire. . . And, well, you get the drift.

Ain't that the truth. I lived and worked in TN when I first got out of college. My bosses were huge UT fans. They would play it at work, they would call me at home and play it in the background.WhenI moved back to Kentucky, they would call meand play itbefore every UK/UT game.I hate, hate, hate that song. If I never heard it played another day as long as I live it would be too soon.
