Former OSU signee picks UK
Running back/defensive back Brown will not play this season

The University of Kentucky appears on the verge of adding a late recruit to its 2006 class.
Antioch (Tenn.) running back/defensive back Preston Brown said this week that he'll sign a letter of intent with UK and plans to enroll as a grayshirt in January.
Brown originally signed with Oklahoma State but said that OSU gave away his scholarship.
"I think the head coach (Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy) didn't think I was going to be eligible," Brown told the Tennesseean. "He told Oklahoma State that I wasn't going to make it and gave my scholarship away thinking I was going to be at junior college for two years."

Saturday, Aug. 12 -- Fans' Day, time and details TBA.
Note the above from Crosby's report. Lets plan for a huge WCN group in attendance. It's only a little over one month away.

Defensive back Andre Jones, who played as a true freshman at UK in 2004 before transferring to junior college for academic reasons, is now at Nebraska. Jones is listed as the nation's fifth-best incoming junior-college prospect by Phil Steele's College Football Yearbook. He's expected to challenge for a starting spot at cornerback despite the fact that the Huskers return both of their starters from last fall.
We all knew that Andre could play. Too bad he did not do it in the classroom here at UK.
Had he returned, he might be the starter again at UK this season.

UK signee Marckus Boswell said last week that he's waiting for the final results from his most recent ACT to determine whether he'll be at Kentucky in the fall.
If Boswell goes to Hargrave, I bet he does not come to UK. Although the military prep school has been a good place for UK recruits, my gut tells me that Boswell will end up playing for a school in S.C.

You may indeed be correct. However, it should be noted that Hargrave doesn't permittheir players to be recruitedother than by theschool the player originallycommitted to. This greatly increases the likelihood that Hargrave playerswind up at their original school of choice and is one reason why coaches try to get their non-qualifiers into the school. Not all prep schools have such a policy.

Thanks for sharing, Jim.
Let's just hope, though, that Hargrave's policy doesn't even matter. In other words, of course, let's keep our fingers crossed that Boswell did well on his recent attempt and makes a qualifying score.

I din't know this about Hargrave---but I think it's an absolutely great policy. However, from comments that Boswell has made recently, if he does end up at a prep school, I think he'll laterbe a Gamecock.
It's tough on a recruiting staff such as ours who mostly can't compete with the top teams for the top players and thus must go forsome academically marginal players. But they know they're going to lose some--- it's the few that make it after all that make the gamble worth while---such as the kid that Ok St shut the door on and left him for us to pick up.

I did not know that. Thanks. That does change my perspective a bit.

"Former OSU signee..."I'd already read about this. When I saw the headline I thought that a guy from Ohio State was headed our way.
