UK Notebook: Lindsey Wilson's Coach Peck happy to be playing Cats

Lindsey Wilson basketball coach Paul Peck knew his players would be excited about having a chance to play the University of Kentucky in an exhibition game next season. However, he was a little surprised from the reaction of Australian Lloyd Lewis, Lindsey Wilson's top returning player.
"In his e-mail, he said, 'The Kentucky? The Division I Kentucky? Are you sure?'" Peck said.
Peck figures some Kentucky fans might have had almost the same reaction when they learned the Wildcats were playing Lindsey Wilson Nov. 2 in Rupp Arena. Peck has made Lindsey Wilson an annual fixture in the NAIA national tournament and his team led Louisville for most of the first half and trailed by just eight points midway of the second half in an exhibition game two years ago.
"We play good basketball here, but not everybody knows about us," Peck, who lives in Boyle County, said. "A game like this does nothing but help a small program like ours. I am glad UK is willing to stay within the state to play teams like us in exhibition games.
