I'm just learning to play and am trying to improve my game. I recently purchased an instructional dvd set, by Phil Mickelson, on the short game. I'd also like to have one that deals with the driver and the fairway woods. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance to any and all who reply.

Matt,
Don't buy them new. Look on eBay, or whatever, and pick them up for less than 50% of original price. These aren't like movies that you are going to watch for the next number of years. You're going to watch it, study the principles, go to the range, and maybe repeat the process. But in any case, at some point you will have gotten all you can from them and they go on the shelf.

Speaking of the range, you should be putting in a great deal of time hitting hundreds of balls for each topic on the DVD.

Good luck!

Thanks, Dave. Ebay is where I purchased the Phil Mickelson dvd's.

By the way, I meant to tell you earlier, kudos for starting with the short game!

It's a hell of a lot of fun to crush the driver (well, at least as I recall anyway - it's been a few years ;)) but the fact is, it's not how far you hit it, it's how close. My last round was a 79 and I never hit the driver farther than 215. But I was dead on with my 8 iron and below.

Keep at it, enjoy every minute of it, and please let me know if I can ever help.

Thanks, Dave. This is my first year of playing and I'm 66, so needless to say I've got my work cut out for me. Two things are in my favor: I'm in better shape than a lot of 66 year olds, and I love to play . Even if I never get to be very good, I still plan on playing as long as I'm able.
