View Full Version : Does Tubby Know?

Tubby offered Tyrone Nash a scholarship before he ever saw him play in person. Do the Kentucky fans find this acceptable? Does he know, most coaches watch the players first?
Does Tubby know that you have to talk to the player? I read where Kentucky was interested in 6-8 Julian Vaughn, but according to the article:
Vaughn is a rugged inside player who said he would consider attending UK if Smith showed an intrest in him.
As of Friday, Vaughn had spoken with UK assistant coach Reggie Hanson, but has never talked with Smith. He is also being recruited by Florida State, Pittsburgh and Washington. Duke and North Carolina have gotten more involved in pursuing him and he has visited with Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski and talked to Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams.
Do you, as Kentucky fans, find Tubby's behavior acceptable?

I find it acceptable. This late in the game we are trying to pick up a player with the right size to be a player to contribute. Until recently we didn't have two schollies to offer this year. So personally I think that Tubby (who has won countless NCAA games and numerous SEC championship) knows better than we as fans do and if he thinks this player or that player can contribute then I have to agree with him and trust he knows what he is doing.

So let me ask you a question do you find it acceptable as a UL fan that Pitino recruits and signs guy after guy that never makes it to campus or leaves after one year? I mean you lost Harvey and Millard after one year. A.Johnson and Telfair never even made it to campus personally I would be more concerned with that if I were a UL fan than the goings on at another university even a rival.

Personally I would be concerned about 2 NIT flameouts in 5 years if I was a UL fan!

Not quite, try again. There's also a difference between getting dissed by no name 3 star recruits, and losing them to the pros. I would rather be MUCH more in our predicament...and so would you. Good thing the NBA set the rule in stone. uk fans worst nightmare come true. Pitino is drooling about what the future holds.

If I were you I would be concerned about being in the longest Final Four drought in uk history...and having that crop of recruits coming in to fill the holes. LMMFAO!!!!

You lost Harvey and Millard to the pros. IfI were you I would worry about all the NIT's UL has been going to lately. Besides the fact that you might have lost Johnson to the pros but it wasnt because he was ready but because he couldn't make the grade to get into school. And wasn't there another recruit you guys had last year that didn't make it to campus because of grades.

Sure they would NIT but you know Millard was your all's seventh man last year I saw him coming off the bench before Brian Johnson most games. But he wouldn't even be third on our depth chart at his postion and Harvey would not even be a thought on our team full of guards.

Every comment you make is funnier than the one before it.

I knew as soon as I posted this thread that it would turn into a NIT thread. For once, I was not smacking. I notice most UKfans that I talk to, and on other boards, are VERY concerned. I was just wondering if you were too?

Millard might have been the 7th man last year, but not this year. That's how much better this team should be. Brian Johnson was hurt last year. It wasn't until the end of the year that he was well enough to play.
Of anyone, you people should know, that when you come to play for Pitino, it's His way or the Highway. If you do it his way, most of the time, you end up a better player. If not, you end up playing in Iraq.

You can thank your boy Noknee for the turn to NIT talk since it was him that brought up final fours. I simply responded first to your question then I replied with what I thought was a pretty interesting question on the flip side of recruiting.

Well Millard was doing it his way and was getting playing time. The only reason I could see for him to leave would have been Pitino going to him and telling him that the playing time he had worked so hard for the season before would not be there this season. Which I think is a horrible thing to do to a kid that had worked as hard as Chad had. He didn't have as much athletic talent as some other guys on the team but worked for rebounds and he work for his shots only to get told you aren't going to get clock.

They are concerned too CN. They just won't ever give us the satisfaction of knowing it. Little do they know we see right through it. 90% of all uk fans are EXTREMELY concerend....except for the fans on THIS board alone.

Wrong again. You can thank catfan for this one before mine....

You can think whatever you want but I am not concerned what so ever. You can try and spin it how ever you want but I am not concerned because anyone we pick up at this point would just be a bonus to the recruiting class. We all thought that the recruiting was over until we had another scholly open up so Tubby decided to try and pick up another forward. I don't see why this is such a hard concept for you. If I was this kid I would be taking my time as well he has to be concerned that UK will recruit over him next year and then he will have to leave the team wasting a year of his eligibilty. I could insert a couple of names of UL players that this happened to this year but I am not going to do it.

There are a lot of things that you could attempt to talk smack about (not that CN was trying to smack about it) but recruiting misses in zero hour is not really one of them.

lol, it's hilarious watching the twist uk fans try to puton things. Yeah, whatever you say man....what ever you say. You might want to inform the other 90% of your fanbase because they were left in the dark at some point in time....and I'm sure you know more than them. LMAO! What a riot!

I wouldn't say that I know more than anyone just slightly more rational. Some UK fans want to jump off of the nearest bridge with every single lost game or lost recruit. Personally I have to much to live for. I was angry when we lost out on Brandon Wright and I was upset when we lost a few of the other players this year but I am not going to get upset if a player wants to take his time making a big choice in his life and if he decides against UK then I wish him all the best and hopefully we will get a big time PF in next years class.

I am trying to keep cool in this thread so I am not going to even touch the other remarks in your response.

Oh they're concerned, they just don't want us to know it. They are like the Jim Jones, Marshall Applewhite clubs, everything is honkey dorey, even as they are drinking the kool aide.
