Cremins talked to Tubby at a camp recently and Tubby needed a game for the schedule. They quickly decided that CofC will play at Rupp in the coming season.

I don't know how good CoC will be next year, but they're typically one of the better mid-major or small conference teams each year. I know some people won't be satisfied unless UK is playing all its non-conference games against perennial national powers, but these are the kinds of games that will really help out their RPI.

I go to Georgia Southern University and we play CofC every year and they are tough. Thats without Cremmins, who, again living in Georgia know, is an amazing coach. That will be a tough play with a coaching duel. GOOD GAME!!!!

College of Charleston was 17-11 last season with a season ending RPI of 189. To put this in perspective Purdue's RPI was 179. Valparaiso was 182 and Dayton was 184.

Cremins should make this game an interesting one at Rupp.

It will be nice to face Cremmins again. I like the guy fairly well but he didn't do much based on the amount of talent he had while at Georgia Tech.

Not trying to argue, but Cremins made Tech a somebody in college basketball. He was the all time winningest coach in that program. He started with crap and made it into a contender. I think he is a great coach. Talent wise though he always, ALWAYS had one of the toughest schedules. Apparently it is carrying over to CofC with him wanting to play us. That just takes gonads in your first year as coach to play the almighty Kentucky.

I have to agree. When he took over at GT in the 80's there were terrible. He went to a Final 4 and had a pretty long stretch of making the NCAA tourney. His problem is he never built much of a bench and when guys started going pro early he did not adjust quickly enough. Because of that the end of his career was not so good. In the late 80's early 90's though GT was a solid program.

This is not like hiring Coach K or anything, but it is a nice hirer for a small school. He brings instant credibility and the ability to recruit, that helps a lot at a small school. I bet he makes the NCAA in the couple of years.
