A young Jim Host with the father of Larry Conley, George. George Conley was an SEC ref and a good one. He didn't referee UK games when Larry played. He was also a State Senator from Ashland

And the master shown being interviewed on his post game show. Coach Rupp was always entertaining, win or lose. After a loss (very few I might add) he had a way of letting us know the sun would come up tomorrow. We miss you coach.,

Larry, I scanned them from a Tip - Off program from the 1964-1965 season. That was my senior year in college and I havesaved a lot of programs from that season. Dampier and Riley were sophomores, Conley and Kron were juniors and Thad Jaracz was a freshman. (Rupps Runts)

Did you ever eat at Parkette ? We use to drive around that and Jerry's for what seemed like hours. Of course gasoline was 25 cents a gallon. But I had a 1963 Chevy 409 and it took a gallon to start it up. :)

Wayne Bell was one of my favorites.

Charlie Mastin was another one from that era.

The Runts were by far my favorite UK team. I graduated from Henry Clay in '67, so I'm just a kid, but I did eat at Parkette. However, we were more Jerry's kind of guys. Spent many an hour riding around the parking lot of Jerry's on Nicholasville Road. Heck, I even sort of picked up a Lafayette cheerleader there one night after a basketball game (we actually had about 4 or 5 dates before I figured that I couldn't be seen with a Lafayette girl). I can even remember her name, but I'll keep that to myself. ;)

And I loved to watch the Rupp Show with Wayne Bell and later with Billy Thompson (I think that's the name I remember) on Channel 18.

Great memories.

I remember watching Wayne Bell's sports showon the 11:00 news and he always had a Parkette meal delivered and would show it on the air. It made me want to head down there and get me a big ole' Poor Boy. But Jerry's was where the best looking girls hung out so it was the place to be. :)

Speaking of Jerry's, they had the best fountain Coke's of any place I know. The shaved ice made it special.

I've gotta revive this thread.

I used to eat at Jerry's every day when I was at the old Henry Clay on East Main.....except, of course, when I went next door to Clay's for gravy fries and chocolate pie. Or down to Magee's for transparent pies (pecan pies without the pecans) and donuts. Mmmmm...

My two favorite crusin' drive-ins were Jerry's on Nicholasville and Frisch's on Richmond Rd. (I once ended up spending a weekend in jail--got caught drinking beer inside the restaurant--after a particularly wild night that ended up at Frisch's. My mom refused to come get me, figuring that a couple nights behind bars might teach me a lesson. Did it? I'll leave that to the jury.) Larry, "couldn't be seen with a Lafayette girl"? I loved those Lafayette girls--so exotic, so forbidden. ;)

I can remember begging to stop here on the way home as a kid.

I was just a little kid (in the 70's) but I actually remember those Cokes.I loved their cole slaw too.Mom used to take me to the one over on Nicholasville Rd.

She also used to take me to the Walgreens in Turfland Mall and the soda fountain inside of Saggaser's (sp?) Drug Store over on Southland. Across the street there was a Sir Pizza and I loved it too...little squares and lots of toppings!

Thanks for bringing up some great memories from my childhood. :)
