Wow from your own administration..

UK regrets quote about Sparks

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Without divulging the source, University of Kentucky media relations director Scott Stricklin expressed regret regarding the negative quotes about senior guard Patrick Sparks that appeared in the October issue of Slam magazine.

"We think Patrick's a great kid, and he doesn't always enjoy dealing with the media and that makes our jobs difficult sometimes, and I think someone got frustrated and they said it not thinking they would be quoted," Stricklin said. "Some of that frustration came out in an inappropriate way and certainly doesn't represent the way we feel about Patrick.

"Because he doesn't like interviews doesn't make him a bad kid. We've apologized to Patrick and we're very happy that he's part of our program."

The story, written by Ben Osborne, appeared on Page 35 of the magazine under the headline of, "Player, Hater," above the words, "Patrick Sparks has no comment. But we do."

Osborne wrote that he was trying to secure an interview with Sparks, UK's returning leading scorer at 11.0 points per game, but was told that wouldn't be happening.

"Patrick is a turd," Osborne quoted a member of the UK media relations staff as saying of Sparks. "I mean, he's a great player and a great kid, except for dealing with the media.

"He simply will not do any interviews, which is tough for us to deal with. He can't graduate soon enough."................

Are we sure the source for this story isn't Otis George.

Who ever wrote this article should be bared from interviewing UK players or coach's from now on. This is ridiculous if this was said at all then it is wrong but what is more wrong is that this guy printed it and probably did it without permission from the individual. How do you print something like that about a kid that is only meant to cause friction.

Regardless, it sounds as if the friction is already there............

Maybe but does that make it right to make it public if it is an internal thing. I think not.

To answer your question Rick:

"Patrick Sparks is a what?"

He's a great free throw shooter he knocked down three in a row to beat UL 60-58.

Glad I could help you out.

He was on a hot streak that day, especially from the "three" throw line...60-58.

And shot his wad while playing Louisville. We are used to that though. We are everybody's Championship.

Please declaw Rondo before the game.

Not an excuse, just facts. You gouged our hottest players eye ball out, and the refs swallowed their whistles to put the game away. Just plain facts.

Sure that is an excuse instead of saying that UL let down in the second half and let UK come back and win. When you blame the refs, a foul, or a player being out that is an excuse but maybe not to some UL fans since that is second nature EXCUSES.

Maybe if you showed those statistics to Tom Crean, they wouldn't have shoveled you right out of the tournament. Maybe the year when you had the overall #1 seed, and you lost to the mighty UAB. I bet Tom Izzo was shaking in his boots last year, as he saw your plane fuel up to come home.

I would of thought with all of that great history, that you would of landed all of the top recruits. I guess those guys just don't see the magic of UK. But, at least you grabbed 6 or 7 more guards. Congrats.

Let's all say it together...Underachieving.

Blue Blockers have nothing to do with it player if this was a UL player we were talking about I would be saying the same thing. By the way if the employee was affiliated with the university on any level then they would apologize.
