LSU’s basketball roster has had a dash of international flavor the last several seasons with Magnum Rolle (Bahamas), Regis Koundija (Africa) and Jaime Lloreda (Panama).
Now the Tigers might be ready to add a player from a different part of the continent who combines a little bit of several other cultures to the mix.
D.J. Wright, a Canadian who has Native American and Jamaican heritage, said Wednesday that he will visit Baton Rouge and the LSU campus in August and will likely commit to the Tigers program then.
“I haven’t officially committed yet, but when I come down there I plan to,” said Wright, who has been in Las Vegas playing for two teams in the Reebok Big Time and adidas Super 64 tournaments. “They’ve worked hard recruiting me since I was a junior. I know the coaches real well and I’m looking forward to going down there to meet all the players, see what the campus is like and see if everything is as perfect a fit as I think it is.”
