Four schools are trying to position themselves for a run at 6-8 Chad Gray should the decision by USC's president not to admit him not be reversed. Auburn, Kentucky, Oklahoma State and Virginia Commonwealth are four schools very interested in recruiting Gray if he gets a release from USC. USC has about a week to take Gray before the school would be forced to release him to other schools.

Schools Lining Up For GrayBy Phil Kornblut
USC has about a week to remedy the situation with 6-8 Chad Gray of Kingstree before they are forced to release him from his letter of intent and is free to sign with any other school. Gray, who has met all NCAA requirements, was denied admission to USC by the school president. The hope is he will reconsider. In the meantime, major programs are getting into position to take Gray. According to a source familiar with the situation, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Indiana are three Gray will look at. Auburn has also expressed interest.

USC Doors Closed To Gray
By Phil Kornblut
USC basketball coaches have been holding out hope that the university president and admissions office would reverse their decision and allow 6-8 recruit Chad Gray into school. But a source with knowledge of the background of the decision said Thursday there is no chance of that happening. That means USC will have to give Gray his unconditional release so he can sign with another Division One program. Several have made it known to Gray they are interested including Clemson, Oklahoma State, Indiana and Virginia Commonwealth.

...South Carolina decided not to admit basketball signee Chad Gray, who attended Florida Prep, which was also cleared and faces possible further review.
Gray reportedly improved his grade-point average from 1.8 to 2.5 during his time at Florida Prep. Gray told the Rock Hill (S.C.) Herald this week he has been contacted by SEC schools Auburn and Kentucky, among others throughout the country.
Gray's situation raises questions about the SEC procedures, namely: Is Gray eligible to sign with other league schools? Slive declined to comment about specific cases.
"I'll deal with the issues as they come, when they come, one way or another, and you'll know the results," Slive said. "It doesn't take very long for this information to get out."

This year right since they are not admitting him this year that would mean that he would be eligible to play this up coming season.

Why would we recruit this kid? While it may be no fault of his own, his high school degree and grades are questionable. Are we desperate?

It isn`t the question of grades! It is the school he attended in Fla.Same one Bradley attended!Seems that it got approval from the NCAA but barely and the sc pres. is worried about complications from the NCAA!

Kentucky Offers Gray
By Phil Kornblut
6-8 forward Chad Gray of Kingstreen and Florida Prep, a former USC signee, said Friday afternoon he has been offered by Kentucky. Gray said he talked earlier in the day with Wildcat head coach Tubby Smith. "He said he has a scholarship available, he has only 11 players," Gray said. "He watched me when I was in the tenth grade and wants me to come down as soon as possible." Gray said he should have his official release from USC by early next week and he will take official visits to Kentucky, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech. He hopes to make a decision by next week and has Kentucky and Oklahoma State at the top of his list. Gray averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists per game last season at Florida Prep.

I would certainly think anyone who held a 1.8 gpa at any point would be considered questionable for grades
