UNC lost out on Love so now theyhave offeredPatterson. Also, Rick Pitino called Patterson this weekend and talked with both Patterson and his parents. However, Pitino did not offer him ... yet.

I am not really worried about UNC at this point as they have entered the scene very late and they don't NEED Patterson or even Love. Louisville is late as well so I am not sure how that will sit with Patterson since I read his quotes earlier this summer that he wanted to make a decision before his senior season begins.

I agree,I think it's uk or wake, guessPitino thinks Tello will be leaving after this year or Caracter will be one and done. But, never count out UNC, that ESPN love fest always helps them and DOok recruiting wise.

I usually wouldn't count UNC out given their recent success especially with forwards. But, I just don't see Patterson waiting until after March Madness to find out who is leaving UNC early and miss out on what is a guarenteed starting role at UK and a very promising team with him onboard.

I think Florida will be around at the end as well.
Duke, UK and Florida I think are the main teams. Wake is still around, but I can't imagine him going there over the other three. I truely think he is coming to UK. I have never seen Tubby pay so much attention to one play. We were in early and often and have stayed on him like white on rice. If we miss out him it will be a very bad thing.
UNC has simply signed too many top rated bigs the past 2 years and are too late to have much of a shot at him. They are 2 deep at PF and C with top 25 guys all of who would be SO or JR when Patterson arrived. Maybe Hansborough leaves, maybe Wright leaves, maybe not. If UNC had of been there from the beginning I would worry more. I don't think UL is even really in the picture. He wants to make a decission in the next couple of months and they have not even offered yet. I doubt they even get a visit. Plus they aleady have Caracter at PF, even if he is 20% body fat.

It may come down to Florida, UNC and UK with Florida and UNC the favorites. I think Duke decided to go in a different direction and Wake is dreaming.
I believe each passing day our chances get dimmer and dimmer. I hope I am wrong but that seems to be our pattern with power forwards. It would have been nice if we could have locked him up with a committment a month ago but it didn't happen.
Now we are in a horse race.

Patterson has said from day 1 that he was going to take his 5 visits this fall. He and his family continue to list KY in top 4 and have not yet decided who number 5 is. Since nothing has changed except for other schools coming in late to recruit him, it makes no sense for hopes to get dimmer each passing day. Why not, as Dick Hurst 2006 edition football bumper sticker says, "Believe Blue." And, spare me the lecture on what happened last year with Wright, Hansborough, etc. I choose to remain positive and I believe we are going to land one of the top PF's in the '07 class.
Unlike in years past we are not putting all of our eggs in one basket. When Wright and Hansborough chose UNC we had no back up plan. THis year we are still recruiting Hickson, Vaught, Randolph, etc.
I still think UK leads and everyone else is a rather distant second, but who knows. I think it is very promising that Duke seems to be out of the picture. I think UNC is dreaming. No way they sign 6 top 10 PF/C in 3 years. No way. If they do it will be the greatest run on big men in the history of college basketball other than UCLA who was paying everyone. As I said in another post, I think it comes down to UF and UK unless Duke crawls there way back in this thing.
