There's a pretty pervasive feeling now that Patterson is the most important recruit in Tubby's tenure. With that idea in mind, I'll share some of the things that make me smile, and some that concern me

+ What I like

-Everything about his game and character. Period.
-That we've been with him from the beginning, and he likes that. We offered Patrick a long time ago, back when he was barely scratching the top 100. He's said in several interviews that he appreciates that, since us and Wake were there from the beginning, Florida jumped on a bit later, and Dook and UNC just hopped on. This could be a huge factor in his decision.
-That he'll likely stay for several years. Patrick isn't a great NBA prospect; his reach is good, but not great, his defense is average, he's below average athletically (relative to his ranking), he's a little on the short side for pro ball, and he's modest and intelligent. All of these factors suggest that if he comes to UK, he could stay for a good long while.
-The amount of PT available. Patrick could easily be a 4 year starter if he chose to.

-What Worries Me

-The heavyweights we're up against. Need I say more?
-Patrick's priorities. He previously outlined the two most important factors in his choice
as academics and pace of play, in that order. As for academics, we're in last place behind Wake, UNC, Dook, and Florida. Regarding our style of play, he said "it's not as fast as I'd like, but it's still pretty fast." We generally play about the same speed as Florida, while Dook, UNC, and Wake all play faster.

I maybe way off base here but I do not see a challenge for Patterson from Duke. IMO, the only stars ina Coach K system are a G/shooter-slasher and the occasional out of position PF playing center. With that said, should Donvan get Patteron with Noah and convince him that he will play one year behind Noah and after thatNoahwill leave for the NBA, we donot stand a chance. At this point our chance is if the Pattersons show a loyalty to Tubby for his persitance, which from what I have read and heard about the family is not out of the question.

I have no sources outside of the press.
