Naw, we don't need Nash. The young man is indecisive and is taking much too long to give us a yes or no. That tells me one of two things. He is either lacking in self confidence or his heart is not in playing at Kentucky. Perhaps he has given us a no already and it wasn't made public.

If he comes to UK, I will support him and cheer loudly for him. Just like any other recruit. But I think this is one that we should just let go. He is a prepster and not ready for the big time. He has told us that with his "actions" so cut him loose and get on with the job at hand with the players who want to be a part of our team.

He is probably wondering what kind of school that HAS NEVER SEEN HIM PLAY would offer him a scholly.

Oh, Man! I'm so pulling for Tubby to land a couple of really good bigmen so he can tell Nash to just forget it. IfNash didn't want UK enough to commit when he had no other college alternative to speak of, we don't want him IMO.

I had a lot of problems with Tubby doing this, and I still do.

I can't blame Nash for taking time, but I would fault him for hanging everyone else to dry. He had his entire next year planned out, he was going to be with his best friend, all of his relatives (except his dad) want him to go to prep school...

...then suddenly he's offered a scholly from a school that looks like it needs bodies and has never seen him play, and he's supposed to change all of his plans ASAP.

He's not in an easy situation. But he has to make a decision, simple or not, and he should have already done so.

Someone on TCP is saying that he's quietly made the decision to prep, but I haven't seen anything official

I also say let him go to the prep school. I think we'll all be better off that way. Are we looking desperate? UK baskeball should be above looking desperate to land someone.

I think the pursuit of Nash was foolish and desperate.

This coaching staff seems to specialize in thismanner of recruiting.

I already know the response.

They've had bad luck, etc... Blah blah blah. I know. Tubby has done everything right and has made no mistakes.

Sainthood is eminent.

Honestly, Dave, surely no one will respond in that fashion. How could it be bad luck? If someone actually does respond that way, please point it out.

On the other hand, has Tubby had some bad luck in the NCAA Tourney in recent years? I would say that is definitely so, particularly injuries to Bogans and Hawkins in years we were the top overall seed and Ramel Bradley's concussion that sent him to the sidelines when he was performing so well in the double-overtime loss to Michigan State. Could any UK fan not think that those injuries were bad luck? Surely not.

Too, surely no one really thinks that Tubby has made NO mistakes. Perhaps some defend him to balance some of the criticism that falls in the other direction... more like Tubby is the devil or something like that. It works both ways.

As I continue to say, we all want the same thing, another Final Four and national championship in the near future. It seems to me that we all need to remember that and not worry so much about how much individual fans think of Coach Smith.

Too, again, the truth is usually in the middle. It may not work so well in keeping arguments going strong with fire. Regardless, it is the truth, as I see it, that Coach Smith has been rather unlucky with some key injuries at tourney time AND that he has made some mistakes (he is human, remember :)), more than needed in recruiting a power forward and more than needed this previous season.

It is my OPINION that Coach Smith is still a great coach who CANlead us to another Final Four and hopefully to another national championship. I know that you want my opinion to be right, Dave.:)

Badly. Unfortunately, I do not believe it will happen.

I know you don't, Dave, and you could be right. I surely hope not, though.

Anyway, you say that you BADLY want it to happen under Coach Smith, and Ibelieve that. I keep reminding WCN readers of that, too. It's a redeeming quality of yours. :ggrin:Take care. :)

We have grasped at kids the last couple of months like a teenage girl without a date a week before prom. We don't look desperate. Apparently we are desperate.

Basketball schollies are harder to give away then football tickets in November

I agree. We are desperate for frontcourt players. By recruiting like this, we publicize that fact as well. I'm sure we'll see an extremely unflattering article about how UK was strung along only to lose out to a high school. Ugh.

The "bad luck" song has become a bad joke. I can see it coming miles away.

I can't. I'm still waiting. You've said more about it than anyone else on this thread.

And yes, this thread occurs in a vacuum. It has nothing to do with anything else that has occurred or anything esle that has been said by anyone ever.

And you guys wonder why I so often turn to sarcasm.

You said you saw it coming. It didn't come. Whether or not this is connected to past threads is irrelevant.

If you just want to argue with me, tell me. We can argue about this for three or four days if you want.

Might be fun...
