Okay, I don't want to make a big deal out of this, because it really isn't. But the thing that surprised me was his comments on the fan day being positive and how the gme clips that were shown on the stadium screens were highlights from games that UK eventually lost. I know he's a U of L grad and prior to his new gig, he was the U of L beat writer, but what does he expect a team to do on fan day? Show the other team scoring? I figured we would see columns like this from him, I just didn't think it would start this soon.

I do agree with one point he made, and that it was time for the team to get it done on the field. But my agreement with the article stops right there.

Like I said, I'm not really surprised. He's only showing he graduated from the Pat Forde School of Journalism and is going to take up where his ESPN buddy left off.

I will have will have a waitsee approach to his writing. In a general sense I agree with you although I don't have a major issue with the article, its accurate but its also a stale approach. We all know that UK fans are resilient and hope springs eternal, blah blah blah. Given it was fan day, it would make more sense to write something about the event itself.

I would agree Crawford came out basting with both barrels and made little if any attempt to mask his opinion of the state of UK’s football program. The film highlight comments were absurd as you noted.

The quotes from Ramsey were pretty good although considering the tone of the column I am surprised he managed to fit them in.

UK’s an easy target and can be an easy column. Look’s like he took the easy way out.

He's another CJ A-hole. But at least he was honest enough in his very first introductory article to let everyone know he's a UofL grad/fan. So you knowwhere he stands.

I guess he would have been thrilled if around 100 people showed up? He would have gotten his jollies over that. Can't understand the love between the fans and UK? But that's UofL fans (and I know plenty) if the beer and wins run out they're gone.

The other day I read a description of UL football as being "The Wal-Mart of college football", it quickly became my favorite UL quote.

Blue4ever, you have given me a new favorite. "if the beer and wins run out they're gone." Classic. :thumbup

If UK beat UL, do you think Eric would sit at press row and be happy, be ambivalent or be upset?

I think so too Rick and that is disturbing. He just rehashes stuff we all already know, very lazy IMO.

Nice post, R&B.

Too, I agree thatCrawford's comments about the film highlights were "absurd."Also, including those comments and the related negative facts in the columncertainly make him easily come across as a U of L "homer" to UK fans. I honestly think it's a surprising choice as UK fans are naturally curious about how this former U of L graduate and U of L beat writer is going to write his columns. Personally, Isurely miss Jerry Brewer, as I felt he was fair and balanced andactually wanted both local universities to do well in their athletic programs.

At least Crawford did include Derrick Ramsey's comments in this column, though. That was a positive, although, as you say, those commentsfrom Ramseycertainly did not match thecolumn's overall tone.
