Consensus Top10 player Derrick Rose has listed UK along with 11 other schools, according to Scout:
Illinois, Memphis, DePaul, Kansas, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Marquette, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Virginia
Yet, Clark Francis (take it for what it's worth) says his list is the following 5.
Kansas, Virginia, Kentucky, Louisville, and Illinois
Let's all be careful not to get our hopes up. 8^)

What recruiting class is he in? 2008? Do you have a link for any stats on him?
Thanks for the info!

Rose is a 5 star (rivals.com) PG in the '07 class. Ranked #1 among PGs in his class while #3 overall. If he still lists KY, I wonder if he holds a scholly offer from us? I haven't seen any confirmation that he does.

Scout is currently showing that we haven't offered. I wonder if that's accurate, and if so, why?

It'd be a pretty big shocker, I think, if we ended up with him. We haven't been on top of him for ages like other schools on that list.
Imagine if he ends up with Eric Gordon at Illinois, wow. One of the best backcourts in modern times, and far better than Lawson/Ellington imo.

With, 3 pg's already here and going hard after Lucas, I would think that is the reason.

Unless there's something we're missing, the kid is too talented for a school that he's interested in NOT to offer. Now, as to what we could be missing? Attitude, grades, baggage?...

Derrick Rose is a unique recruit. The guy isn't just any hold highly touted point guard. Everyone in chicago has known his name since he was in 6th grade. Calling the guy a legend of the highest magnitude in chac town wouldn't even do him justice. He's arguably the best player ever to come out of a town that has produced a lot of basketball talent.
This adds a little twist to his recruiting. The battle to get him will likely be as intense as it always is for a prized recruit of his value, but Derrick, and the schools going after him, will feel the weight of the entire city of chicago on their shoulders in making his choice.
He doesn't seem to have any baggage at all. I just don't think Tubby will have the time necessary to get him. As I said before, this will likely be a hard battle, possibly one of the hardest recruiting battles in college basketball history. Considering our depth at PG, I just don't think we need him enough to put in the kind of work necessary to get him. Our staff may feel the same way, and perhaps they're still debating on how far they want to go with him. Contrary to popular belief, offering a kid almost commits you to putting much more work in the future.

All that said, I still think we should offer him :D
The whole city of Chicago, a huge media market, would suddenly be cheering for the Wildcats. That could put us seriously out "in front" and give Tubby the visibility many have been clammoring for.

That's the thing I don't really understand. Recruiting has strategy like most everything in life, but until I get a better feel for the way this particular game is played, I can't really say why we should offer who when. UK should have a Class on the topic. 8^)

There's a Scout article on him narrowing his choices to 5. I don't know if it's a "final 5" list or just a "5 favorites" list since the article is premium, but either way I doubt we'll be in the mix at the end of it.

Doesn't appear to be a premium article.....Depaul, Memphis, Kansas, IU, UCLA
