I think that age, maturity and the improvement in areas that this article speaks about will be the deciding factors in our QB success and also factors in why AW struggled last year. Do not forget about the age experience ratio that comes into play here when thinking about our QB's.
Some good points are made in this article.

Thank God there's some folks out there in the world who recognize that Tim's "failure" was really not his own doing. It really makes me sick when I read or hear some jake-leg analyst talk about what a bust he was. I remember thinking on draft day that going with the expansion Browns was about the worst thing that could have happened to him. A good football team is the sum of its parts, and there's no question that a good OL, for instance, can make an average QB or RB look great. And vice versa.
The same thing relates to what others have stated on this board about R Little's accomplishments last year, with our busted-up OL. Can you imagine what he could have done if he had chosen Georgia or Auburn?

Couch never had a chance. The Browns idea of building an expansion team around a QB was just plain stupid. Passing on Ohio native "Big Ben" even more so.

Andre struggled last year because of his shoulder and the lack of protection.

I think you are right and lets not forget he was just a sophmore.

People tend to put a lot of blame on the quarterback; however, as far as team sports goes, quarterback skill correlates stronger with win percentage than any other position in any other team sport that I know.

I think a pitcher on a baseball team would have more bearing on a team's overall winning percentage and a hockey goalie would be right up there as well.BTAIM, I do think you're right about the QB having a huge influence, moreso than manyother team sports.

RV, a hockey goalie moreso than a QB? Hmmmm. I don't know about that one. Seems there is a lower 'decency' point for hockey goalies.
How many average QB's are there that have won Super Bowls. I can't name names, but it seems like a significant number. The best right now, Peyton, doesn't have one.
I think:
A good team with a soso QB will be well represented but not quite reach its full potential.
A less talented team with a good QB will still suffer many setbacks.
A talented team with a talented QB will achieve.
